Inleiding
Aan de noordzijde van het langgerekte TRIBUNEGEBOUW liggen de kantine, de bestuurs- en kleedkamers met verdieping en, aan de zuidzijde, de (verkorte) tribune, die qua volume en gevelrooilijn alle variëren. Onder de tribunes zijn bergingen gesitueerd. De kleedkamers zijn tegenwoordig in gebruik als opslag. De bestuurskamer had een balkon dat is dicht gezet. De keuken en het bar-gedeelte van de kantine zijn vernieuwd.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw is volledig uitgevoerd in hout met de kantine onder een schilddak, de bestuurskamer onder een plat dak en de tribune onder een zeer flauw hellend lessenaarsdak, allen met een bitumineuze dakdekking. De wanden zijn samengesteld uit horizontale grenen delen tegen een houtskelet.
Het kantinedeel is omgeven door een veranda met borstwering. De kantinewand bestaat volledig uit een pui op een borstwering met dubbele toegangsdeuren centraal in de drie gevelzijden. De pui is aan de noordzijde afgeschuind. Elk pui-segment bestaat uit een groot venster met daarboven twee acht-ruits bovenlichten.
Het bestuurs/kleedkamerdeel bestaat uit drie aaneengeschakelde delen, variërend in hoogte en gevelrooilijn. Aan de oostzijde over het gehele gevelvlak meerruits puien en een toegang; de kozijnen op de verdieping zijn geplaatst met het dichtzetten van de balkons. Aan de westzijde over de volle lengte bovenlichten van de voormalige kleedkamers met veel horizontale roeden en een toegangsdeur; op de verdieping drie meerruits vensters.
De borstwering van de tribune is jaren geleden verlaagd; de houten banken zijn origineel; de zijwand grenzend aan de bestuurskamer is afgeschuind, dit in verband met de trap naar de verdieping. De westzijde heeft diverse toegangsdeuren en een enkel venster naar de berging onder de tribune. De tribune wordt afgesloten (zuid) door een verhoogd deel, in volume en vorm afgeleid van het bouwdeel aan de andere zijde van de tribune. Aan de structuur van het INTERIEUR is weinig veranderd. Alle onderdelen, vloeren en wanden zijn van hout, met uitzondering van de sanitaire voorzieningen in de voormalige kleedkamers en keuken.
Waardering
Het tribunegebouw van het Sportpark Leeuwarderweg is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:
- voor het oeuvre van de architect;
- vanwege de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp;
- vanwege het bijzondere materiaalgebruik;

On the north side of the elongated TRIBUNE BUILDING are the canteen, the administration and changing rooms with upper storey and, on the south side, the (shortened) tribune, which vary in volume and facade roofline. Under the tribunes are storage areas. The changing rooms are nowadays used for storage. The administration room had a balcony which has been closed off. The kitchen and bar section of the canteen have been renewed.
Description
The building is entirely executed in wood with the canteen under a hipped roof, the administration room under a flat roof and the tribune under a very shallow sloping lean-to roof, all with bituminous roof covering. The walls are composed of horizontal pine sections against a timber frame.
The canteen section is surrounded by a veranda with parapet. The canteen wall consists entirely of a curtain wall on a parapet with double entrance doors central on the three facade sides. The curtain wall is bevelled on the north side. Each curtain wall segment consists of a large window with above it two eight-light fanlights.
The administration/changing room section consists of three connected parts, varying in height and facade roofline. On the east side across the entire facade many-light curtain walls and an entrance; the windows on the upper storey are placed with the closing of the balconies. On the west side along the full length fanlights of the former changing rooms with many horizontal glazing bars and an entrance door; on the upper storey three many-light windows.
The parapet of the tribune was lowered years ago; the wooden benches are original; the side wall adjoining the administration room is bevelled, this in connection with the stair to the upper storey. The west side has various entrance doors and a single window to the storage below the tribune. The tribune is closed off (south) by a raised section, in volume and form derived from the building section on the other side of the tribune. Little has changed in the structure of the INTERIOR. All components, floors and walls are of wood, with the exception of the sanitary facilities in the former changing rooms and kitchen.

The tribune building of Sportpark Leeuwarderweg is of general cultural-historical and architectural-historical significance:
- for the oeuvre of the architect;
- because of the high-quality aesthetic qualities of the design;
- because of the exceptional material use;
- as an essential component of a larger whole that is of general cultural-historical and architectural-historical significance;
