Inleiding:
In neo-Renaissance stijl gebouwd HERENHUIS deel uitmakend van het complex 'Westelijk Handelsterrein' en gebouwd in 1890.
N.B. De smeedijzeren crêtekam is inmiddels verdwenen en de drie ronde poortdoorgangen zijn gewijzigd in twee rechte poortdoorgangen.
Omschrijving:
Het statige herenhuis is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond in rode baksteen met gepleisterde speklagen, vensteromlijstingen, cordonlijsten, sluitstenen en tussen de vensterassen, diamantblokken. Het pand heeft een hoog afgeplat, dwarsgeplaatst schilddak.
De dakschilden zijn bedekt met leien, de platte dakdelen met zink.
Het pand is vier vensterassen breed. De meest rechter as, boven de ingang, risaleert iets en loopt door in een eenvoudige halsgevel.
Het dak van deze risaliet is iets hoger opgetrokken, waardoor een toren-achtig effect ontstaat. Op de begane grond links twee (in oorsprong drie rondboog vormige) poortdoorgangen naar het achter- en onderliggende handelsterrein en rechts de boogvormige ingang tot het woonhuis. Over de gehele breedte van de poortdoorgangen staat in zakelijke kapitalen in natuursteen gebeiteld: WESTELIJK HANDELSTERREIN. Op de eerste verdieping, in de zij-risaliet een frans balkon, waarvan de deuren worden omlijst door een hoofdgestel met korinthische zuilen en een fronton met in het timpaan een hoofd. Links drie rechthoekige schuifvensters met geprofileerde vensterbekroning rustend op consoles. Voor het middelste venster een balkon met natuurstenen balustrade en op de pijlers siervazen in Empirestijl, rustend op consoles in de vorm van hondekoppen. Onder de vensters aan weerszijden van het balkon bevindt zich een balustrade. In de rollagen vijf wit gestucte boogstenen.
De tweede verdieping heeft in het risalerende deel een venster vrijwel conform de eerste verdieping; hier geen balkon, maar alleen een balustrade. De vensters links hiervan zijn een sobere uitvoering van de vensters op de eerste verdieping. Het pand heeft een geprofileerde daklijst op houten consoles. In het dak, boven de tweede vensteras, een rechthoekige dakkapel met klauwstukken. Boven het risalerende deel een halsgevel met rechthoekig venster met in de top een schelpmotief.
In het interieur zijn naast het monumentale trappehuis de originele stucplafonds, lambrizeringen, schouwen en deuren van belang.
Waardering:
Neo-renaissancistisch herenhuis van algemeen belang vanwege architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde, alsook van belang als historisch functioneel onderdeel van het complex Westelijk Handelsterrein.

Description:
The stately mansion is constructed on a rectangular ground plan in red brick with rendered speckled courses, window surrounds, string courses, rustications and between the window bays, diamonded rustication. The property has a high flattened, transversely placed hipped roof.
The roof tiles are covered with slates, the flat roof sections with zinc.
The property is four window bays wide. The rightmost bay, above the entrance, projects slightly and continues in a simple neck gable.
The roof of this risalit is raised slightly higher, creating a tower-like effect. On the ground floor on the left two (originally three semicircular arch-shaped) gateway passages to the rear and underlying commercial terrain and on the right the arch-shaped entrance to the residence. Across the full width of the gateway passages stands in plain capitals in natural stone carved: WESTELIJK HANDELSTERREIN. On the first storey, in the side risalit a French balcony, of which the doors are framed by an entablature with Corinthian columns and a pediment with in the tympanum a head. On the left three rectangular sash windows with profiled window crestings resting on consoles. In front of the central window a balcony with natural stone balustrade and on the piers ornamental vases in Empire style, resting on consoles in the form of dog-heads. Below the windows on either side of the balcony there is a balustrade. In the arches five white stucco arch stones.
The second storey has in the projecting section a window virtually in accordance with the first storey; here no balcony, but only a balustrade. The windows to the left of this are a sober execution of the windows on the first storey. The property has a profiled cornice on wooden consoles. In the roof, above the second window bay, a rectangular roof dormer with claw pieces. Above the projecting section a neck gable with rectangular window with in the apex a shell motif.
In the interior, alongside the monumental staircase, the original stucco ceilings, wainscotings, chimney pieces and doors are of importance.
Valuation:
Neo-Renaissance mansion of general importance on account of architectural and cultural-historical value, as well as of importance as a historically functional component of the complex Westelijk Handelsterrein.
