KANTOORPAND in 1922 gebouwd in expressionistische stijl in opdracht van de in 1912 opgerichte "General Steam Transport Co."
Omschrijving:
Kantoorpand van drie bouwlagen, een kapverdieping en een kelder, gebouwd op een smal rechthoekig hoekkavel. Boven een natuurstenen rustica onderbouw is het pand opgetrokken in rode baksteen, met in de gevels natuurstenen lateien en cordonlijsten. Het pand wordt afgesloten door een hoog, met rode pannen bedekt, mansardedak. De hoek van het pand is afgeschuind, hoger opgetrokken en wordt gemarkeerd door een rond koepeldak met koperbeslag en een ijzeren vlaggemast. In het smalle, één vensteras brede, geveldeel links van de erker aan de Van Vollenhovenstraat bevindt zich op de begane grond geheel links de hoofdingang; een houten deur met een rechthoekig bovenlicht. De deur is omlijst met een natuurstenen aedicula, met in het hoofdgestel, tussen de kapitelen, vijf decoratieve bollen. Hierboven op iedere verdieping een rechthoekige taatsraam voorzien van natuurstenen lateien. De vensters zijn gevat in stalen profielen. De borstweringen zijn gevuld met natuurstenen reliëfs van stroomgoden en de vier windrichtingen: aan de van Vollenhovenlaan "west" en "oost" en aan Houtlaan "noord" en "zuid". In het interieur is naast de representatieve marmeren entree van belang het betegelde trappenhuis en de directiekamers (met eikehouten lambrizering) op de eerste verdieping.

Office building of three storeys, an attic storey and a basement, built on a narrow rectangular corner plot. Above a natural stone rusticated base, the building is constructed in red brick, with natural stone lintels and string courses in the facades. The building is finished with a high mansard roof covered in red tiles. The corner of the building is cut at an angle, raised higher and marked by a round cupola roof with copper fittings and an iron flagstaff. In the narrow, one window bay wide, facade section to the left of the oriel on the Van Vollenhovenstraat is located at ground floor level on the far left the main entrance; a wooden door with a rectangular fanlight.
