Inleiding
Vijvers met bosaanplant, bronnenbos genaamd Frawensieff en oude toegangsweg nabij het gebouwencomplex Rolduc genaamd Chemin de d'Abbaye.
Omschrijving
Viertal aangelegde vijvers op verschillend niveau waardoor overloop plaatsvindt. Rond de deels boogvormige vijvers een wandelpad. Bosaanplant op de taluds. In dit zogenoemde bosquet bevinden zich de bronnen die de vijvers van water voorzien.
Vanuit een pomphuis bij de hoogste vijver werd water opgepompt naar de watertoren van het gebouwencomplex. Van hieruit werd het gehele abdijcomplex van water voorzien.
Het Frauwensieff betreft een hellend waterrijk bronnengebied, noordelijk van het gebouwencomplex Rolduc. Het deels beboste gebied, waarin zich de bronnen bevinden, is een restant van de in de 12de eeuw beginnende ontginning t.b.v. landbouwgronden. De bronnen van de Frawensieff hebben hetzelfde voedingsgebied als de bronnen die in Rolduc het water leveren voor de vijvers in het zogenoemde bosquet.
De Chemin de d'Abbaye is een noord-zuid gerichte eeuwenoude voormalige hoofdtoegangsweg naar Rolduc. Het noordelijk deel is reeds bekend uit het midden van de 16de eeuw en het zuidelijk deel is tesamen met de Nieuwstraat en de Steenwegen, tussen 1784 en 1786 aangelegd. Beide delen zijn bestraat met kasseien voorzien van een opsluitband. Het noordelijk wegdeel is deels opengebroken en deels zwaar beschadigd. Het zuidelijk deel verkeert nog in een gave toestand. Dit historisch tracee van de Heyendahllaan loopt vanaf de Nieuwstraat, via de vijfsprong westelijk gelegen van Rolduc, tot aan de Van Gilsstraat, ter hoogte van de Ailbertuslaan.
Waardering
Het geheel van vijvers, bronnenbos en oude toegangsweg bezit cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geografische en landschappelijke ontwikkeling. Ensemblewaarde ontleent het geheel aan zijn betekenis als essentieel onderdeel van het complex Rolduc dat cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is. Het geheel is van algemeen belang in relatie tot de visuele gaafheid van de landschappelijke omgeving. Het geheel bezit eveneens typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid.

Four constructed ponds at different levels causing overflow. Around the partly arched ponds a walking path. Forest planting on the slopes. In this so-called bosquet are the springs that provide water to the ponds.
From a pump house at the highest pond water was pumped to the water tower of the building complex. From here the entire abbey complex was supplied with water.
The Frauwensieff is an inclined water-rich spring area, north of the building complex Rolduc. The partly wooded area, in which the springs are located, is a remnant of the clearing that began in the 12th century for agricultural land. The springs of the Frawensieff have the same supply area as the springs that in Rolduc provide water for the ponds in the so-called bosquet.
The Chemin de d'Abbaye is a north-south directed centuries-old former main access road to Rolduc. The northern part has been known since the middle of the 16th century and the southern part was laid out together with the Nieuwstraat and the Steenwegen between 1784 and 1786. Both parts are paved with setts provided with a kerb. The northern road section is partly broken up and partly severely damaged. The southern section is still in good condition. This historic route of the Heyendahllaan runs from the Nieuwstraat, via the five-way junction located west of Rolduc, to the Van Gilsstraat, at the level of the Ailbertuslaan.
