Inleiding
R.K. KERK St. Willibrordus uit 1925 met kenmerken van de neoromaanse bouwstijl, ontworpen door architect L.J.P. Kooken uit Eindhoven.
De kerk staat op de hoek met de Hoogstraat.
De voor- of zuidgevel staat aan de Markt. De bijzondere pastorie, gebouwd in 1934, ligt oostelijk van de kerk.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw is een driebeukige, basilicale kruiskerk met klokkentoren tegen de zuidkant van het westertrancept.
De kerk zelf met de kruisvormige plattegrond ligt onder zadeldaken tussen topgevels. De open voorhal van de kerk en de zijbeuken liggen onder lessenaarsdaken.
Boven de absis, die bestaat uit een halve cirkel met een omloop rond het altaar, ligt een kegelvormig dak. De toren heeft een hoogopgaand vierkant torendak. De daken zelf zijn belegd met natuurstenen leien.
De kerk is in- en uitwendig, opgetrokken in schoonmetselwerk. Het muurwerk bestaat uit machinale baksteen, gemetseld in kruisverband met toepassing van siermetselwerk en natuursteen afzaten en aanzetstenen. De muuropeningen bestaan in hoofdzaak uit rond- en paraboolbogen.
In de kopgevel boven de ingangspartij van de kerk het beeld van de H. Jozef. De toren bevat een torenuurwerk en luidklok.
De kerk heeft een gemetseld gewelf. In de absis figuratieve glas-in-lood vensters. Oorspronkelijk bevond zich in de absis schilderwerk, nu is ze gepleisterd.
Rond de tuin van de kerk een smeedijzeren hekwerk staande op een gemetselde ezelsrug.
Waardering
De kerk is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme in het zuiden van Nederland en is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de volkskerk in het Interbellum.
