Inleiding
HERENHUIS uit 1891 in Eclectische stijl gebouwd in 1892 voor D. van Dijk-Manders van de linnenweverij Van Dijk & Zonen. De familie Van Dijk bouwde tussen 1892 en 1910 aan de Markt een rij herenhuizen met in het midden de linnenfabriek. De huizen zijn alle in dezelfde stijl opgetrokken op no. 6 na. Ze vormen samen een symmetrisch geheel. Markt 9 staat met drie zijden vrij op het perceel. De voor- of noordgevel staat aan de Markt. De westkant sluit aan op Markt 10. Het huis is nu in gebruik als kantoor van de fabriek.
Omschrijving
Het huis heeft één bouwlaag onder mansardekap met eindschilden gedekt met natuursteen schubleien. De symmetrische voorgevel is vijf traveeën breed, ze heeft gepleisterde hoekpilasters en een middenrisaliet met erboven in het dak twee houten en een stenen kapel. De laatste met driehoekige frontonbekroning. Verder bevat de gevel een kroonlijst, een zware fries met consoles en een basement met hardstenen plint. Het huis is opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband. In de risaliet een voordeur met houtsnijwerk en smeedijzeren deurroosters. De getoogde muuropeningen hebben geprofileerde stuclijsten met een kuifbekroning. Ze zijn voorzien van schuifvensters. Het huis deelt de keukenaanbouw onder zadeldak met no. 10, waarmee het inwendig is verbonden. Description
The house has one storey under a mansard roof with end hipped sections covered with natural stone graduated slate. The symmetrical front facade is five bays wide, it has plastered corner pilasters and a central risalite with above it in the roof two wooden and one stone chapel. The latter with triangular pediment framing. The facade further contains a cornice, a heavy frieze with consoles and a basement with an ashlar plinth. The house is built of machine-made brick laid in English bond. In the risalite a front door with wood carving and wrought-iron door grilles. The arched wall openings have moulded stucco frames with a curved surround. They are provided with sash windows. The house shares the kitchen extension under a gabled roof with no. 10, with which it is internally connected. Interior with various valuable authentic components such as among others: ornamented stucco ceilings, doors, staircase and fireplace mantels.
