Inleiding
HERENHUIS uit 1910 gebouwd voor textielfabrikant Josephus van Dijk door Cornelius de Koning. De familie Van Dijk bouwde tussen 1892 en 1910 aan de Markt een rij van vier herenhuizen met in het midden de linnenfabriek. Het herenhuis is in 1910 tot stand gekomen en wijkt in stijl van de overige panden, ook het pand no. 10 uit 1910, af. Markt 6 staat aan drie zijden vrij op het perceel. De voor- of noordgevel staat aan de Markt. De westkant sluit aan op Markt 7. Erachter ligt een ruime tuin. Op no. 8 staat de bijbehorende fabriek.
Omschrijving
Het blokvormige huis heeft twee bouwlagen liggend onder schilddak met overstek gedekt met leien. Aan de straatkant op de begane grond is het uitgebouwd met een driezijdige erker, met erboven een balkon en aan de tuinkant een eenlaags keukenaanbouw. Het huis heeft een kroonlijst, fries, hardstenen cordon en plint. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit machinale baksteen gemetseld in kruisverband. Siermetselwerk in fries en cordon. In de getoogde muuropeningen van de begane grond hardstenen sluitstenen. De vensters van het huis zijn voorzien van onderluiken. In de bovenlichten zit een kleine roedenverdeling. Op de verdieping in de zijgevel kruisvensters. Opzij van het huis een monumentale ingangspartij met luifel, klein bordes en balustrade. Voordeur voorzien van geslepen glas omgeven door glas-in-lood vensters. Het dak heeft twee hoekschoorstenen en een aantal dakkapellen met schilddakjes bekroond door loden pirons. Interieur met diverse waardevolle authentieke onderdelen zoals: geornamenteerde stucplafonds, timmerwerk van deuren en trappenhuis, een schoorsteenmantel met Delfts blauwe tegels in de hal, tegelranden in keuken en toilet en een raam met rood en groen glas-in-lood in het trappenhuis. De tuin heeft een gemetselde schansmuur.
Waardering
Het woonhuis bij de linnenweverij Van Dijk is van algemeen belang. Description
