Inleiding
Naar ontwerp van Tj. Kuipers in 1921 gebouwde SCHOOL in geprononceerde stedenbouwkundige situering. De school ligt in de as van het driehoekige Rozenhagenplein en vormt hiervan de noordelijke afsluiting. De gereformeerde school droeg aanvankelijk de naam Dr. A. Kuyperschool en heet na een fusie met een andere protestants christelijke basisschool Willem van Oranjeschool. De school is via de achterzijde verbonden met een apart paviljoen dat werd gebouwd als kleuterschool en thans als peuterspeelzaal dient. Dit paviljoen heeft een eigen ingang aan de zijde van de Patrimoniumstraat. De architectuur van basisschool en peuterspeelzaal is opgetrokken in de stijl van de Amsterdamse School.
Omschrijving
Op compact vlindervormig grondplan gebouwde school bestaande uit één bouwlaag met kapverdieping. De kapverdieping bevindt zich in een samengestelde mansardekap die is gedekt met rode Hollandse pan. De vlindervorm opent zich op het Rozenhagenplein (Z) aan welke zijde zich ook de leslokalen bevinden. Het symmetrisch opgezette gebouw heeft een centrale hoofdingang die wordt geflankeerd door schuin naar voren springende bouwvolumes die elk door een topgevel in de vorm van de mansardekap worden ingeleid. De topgevels geven licht aan de hier gesitueerde leslokalen. De overige in de kap gebrachte lokalen worden verlicht door grote dakkapellen. Het centrale karakter van de hoofdingang wordt benadrukt door een in de kap gebracht venster ter breedte van vier ramen, dat hier als zelfstandig - dat wil zeggen niet in de pandekking opgenomen volume - is behandeld.
Het pand is opgetrokken in rode baksteen. Centraal in de nok staat een met lood beklede klokkenstoel Dit verticale element accentueert het symmetrische karakter van het pand en de plaats van de hoofdingang die zich bevindt in een merendeels in hout uitgevoerd portiek met fronton en rijk gesneden zuilen.

Description
School built on a compact butterfly-shaped floor plan consisting of one storey with roof space. The roof space is located in a composite mansard roof covered with red Dutch tiles. The butterfly shape opens onto the Rozenhagenplein (S) on which side the classrooms are also located. The symmetrically laid out building has a central main entrance flanked by building volumes springing diagonally forward, each introduced by a gable in the form of the mansard roof. The gables provide light to the classrooms situated here. The remaining rooms situated in the roof are lit by large roof dormers.
