Inleiding
Aan de noordzijde van een open plek in het rooms-katholieke deel van de begraafplaats gelegen houten KAPEL met voorgevel op het zuiden. De witte kapel in zeer vroege neogotische trant werd in 1831 ontworpen door J.D. Zocher jr. en in 1832 gebouwd door de Haarlemse aannemer N. Swarte.
Omschrijving
Het kleine rijzige gebouw staat op rechthoekig grondplan en heeft één bouwlaag onder overstekend zadeldak, in oorsprong met riet gedekt. De wanden zijn opgetrokken uit horizontale houten delen boven een gemetselde plint en worden aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een kamachtige versiering. Op de vier hoeken zijn ter decoratie dunne zuilen geplaatst waarvan de gladde kapitelen door middel van een omgaande cordonlijst met elkaar worden verbonden. Deze cordonlijst bevindt zich ter hoogte van de aanzet van de spitsbogen boven de ingang in de voorgevel en boven de vensters in het midden van de beide zijwanden. De achterwand is blind.
De ingang bestaat uit een omlijste dubbele spitsboog met daarin een dubbele paneeldeur. Boven de dubbele spitsboog bevindt zich een blinde spitsboog. Direct onder de nok hangt een metalen kruisbeeld. De beide vensters in de zijgevels zijn eveneens omlijst, onder de aanzet van de spitsboog in de vorm van kleine houten zuilen evenals bij het hoofdvolume. De gladde kapitelen van deze kleine zuilen worden ook door de cordonlijst verbonden. De ramen in deze vensters hebben een houten roedenverdeling met neogotisch motief. Paneeldeuren en ramen zijn groen geverfd.
Het interieur vormt een afspiegeling van het exterieur. Ook hier is de geleding met kleine hoekzuilen en een omgaande lijst toegepast. Het altaar bevindt zich tegenover de ingang in een nis die de vorm heeft van een dubbele spitsboog. Het plafond heeft de vorm van een troggewelf.
Waardering
Gaaf bewaarde en zeldzaam geworden witte houten kapel van belang uit cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt alsmede van belang als één van de oudste historisch-functionele onderdelen van het complex van de Algemene Begraafplaats Kleverlaan.

Located on the north side of an open space in the Roman Catholic section of the cemetery, a wooden CHAPEL with front façade facing south. The white chapel in very early neogothic style was designed in 1831 by J.D. Zocher jr. and built in 1832 by Haarlem contractor N. Swarte.
Description
The small tall building stands on a rectangular ground plan and has one storey under an overhanging gabled roof, originally thatched with reed. The walls are constructed from horizontal wooden elements above a rendered plinth and are terminated at the top by a comb-like decoration. On the four corners thin columns are placed for decoration, the smooth capitals of which are connected to each other by means of a surrounding cordon moulding. This cordon moulding is situated at the height of the springing of the pointed arches above the entrance in the front façade and above the windows in the middle of both side walls. The rear wall is blank.
The entrance consists of a moulded double pointed arch with a double panel door within it. Above the double pointed arch is a blind pointed arch. Directly below the ridge hangs a metal crucifix. The two windows in the side gables are also moulded, below the springing of the pointed arch in the form of small wooden columns, as at the main volume. The smooth capitals of these small columns are also connected by the cordon moulding. The frames in these windows have wooden glazing bars with a neogothic motif. Panel doors and frames are painted green.
The interior reflects the exterior. Here too, the articulation with small corner columns and a surrounding moulding is applied. The altar is situated opposite the entrance in a niche which takes the form of a double pointed arch. The ceiling has the form of a barrel vault.
Valuation
Well-preserved and rare white wooden chapel of importance from a cultural-historical and architectural-historical point of view as well as of importance as one of the oldest historical-functional components of the complex of the Algemene Begraafplaats Kleverlaan.
