Inleiding
Het HEK op de grachtdam van de begraafplaats is ontworpen in een expressionistische trant. Het ontwerp is vermoedelijk van de gemeentearchitect C. van Wamel uit 1926. Het toegangshek is stilistisch te vergelijken met het eenvoudiger uitgevoerde hekwerk bij de niet beschermde begraafplaats van Tijnje.
Omschrijving
Het toegangshek is samengesteld uit vier bakstenen stijlen: twee hoge aan beide zijden van het centrale, dubbele toegangshekwerk en twee lagere aan weerszijden ervan voor de smallere voetgangerstoegangshekken. Het metselwerk is decoratief en in verschillende patronen uitgevoerd: een ingesnoerde voet in blokkenpatroon, de schacht in kruisverband met aan alle vier zijden een verticale zaagtand-decoratie en afgesloten door een veelhoekige bekroning. De ijzeren dubbele toegangshekken zijn grotendeels gesmeed in sierlijke patronen, evenals de enkelvoudige voetgangershekken. Van de draaiende hekken zijn de onderzijde en het gedeelte aan de scharnierende zijde gesloten ter versteviging. Aan de buitenzijde van de voetgangers-hekstijlen zijn vleugelstukken in dezelfde trant aangebracht.
