POORTGEBOUW, in 1880 in eclectische stijl gebouwd als monumentale toegang met portiersloge.
Omschrijving
Het poortgebouw heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en is opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen, geblokt gemetseld bij de hoeken en van gele baksteen rollagen voorzien. De plint is van hardsteen. Het middelste gedeelte bestaat uit de entree, aan beide zijden is er een bijgebouw onder zadeldak. De entree bestaat uit een rondboog met inwendig een gepleisterd tongewelf.
In de afsluitende tuitgevel is een hardstenen plaat opgenomen met de tekst: R.C. Begraafplaats anno 1880. Inwendig bevinden zich links en rechts ook vernieuwde paneeldeuren en rechts een verdiept gedeelte op gietijzeren kolommen, een baarnis. De zijgebouwen hebben een getoogd zesruitsschuifvenster met hardstenen dorpel en een smal zijraam. In de topgevel is een rond raam met ijzeren margrietvorm gezet.
Waardering
Het poortgebouw is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als getuigenis van de katholieke grafcultuur in Zuid-Nederland en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de begraafplaatspoorten. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een eenvoudig poortgebouw met bakstenen en gestucte siermotieven in eclectische stijl. Het heeft ensemblewaarde, het maakt deel uit van een geheel dat vanwege de situering en de inrichting van belang is. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven.

The gate building has a rectangular floor plan and is constructed of machine-made brick, rusticated mortared at the corners and provided with yellow brick courses. The plinth is of hard stone. The central section consists of the entrance, on both sides there is an annexe under a gabled roof. The entrance consists of a round arch with a plastered barrel vault inside.
In the closing spout gable a hard stone plate is incorporated with the text: R.C. Cemetery anno 1880. Inside there are also renewed panel doors on the left and right and on the right a recessed section on cast iron columns, a mortuary chapel. The side buildings have an arched six-pane sash window with hard stone sill and a narrow side window. In the roof gable is a round window with iron daisy form.

The gate building is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as evidence of Catholic burial culture in South Netherlands and as an example of the typological development of cemetery gates.
