Inleiding
HERENHUIS, in eclectische stijl. De begane grond uit de achttiende of vroege negentiende eeuw werd rond 1860-1870 met een verdieping verhoogd, rond 1890-1900 uitgebreid met een haakse aanbouw aan de achterzijde en rond 1910-1920 voorzien van een tuinkamer. Markant gelegen tegenover het Kruisherenklooster Lievevrouweplein 2-4.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags gepleisterd herenhuis met een in blokverband gepleisterde gevel van zes traveeën op een plint met cassetteversiering. T-ramen met stucomlijsting, op de verdieping voorzien van kuif en raambefje. De ingang met terugliggende deur met Art Déco motieven. Cordonlijst onder de ramen van de verdieping. Boven de ingang balkon met smeedijzeren hek rustend op voluutconsoles. De balkondeur met glas-in-lood en geëtst glas. De kroonlijst heeft voluutconsoles. De zijgevels hebben T-ramen met stucomlijsting. Schilddak met hoekschoorstenen met rookkap, gedekt met tuile du nord-pannen. Stoep en hek met kettingen tussen hardstenen palen. Haakse aanbouw onder zadeldak uit ca. 1910, met speklagen en getoogde ramen, iets verhoogd ca. 1960 en hierop aansluitende tuinkamer onder schilddak.
Inwendig een tweetal kelders, een met tongewelf onder het voorhuis, daterend uit de oudste bouwfase, een met trogjes in schoon metselwerk op ijzeren profielen onder de haakse keukenaanbouw. Er is een middengang, doorlopend in de aanbouw van ca. 1900. Stucplafonds met rijke detaillering en aan de tuinzijde dubbele deuren met geëtst glas. In de linker en rechter voorkamer, in de studeerkamer en de slaapkamers boven rijke stucplafonds met onder meer ranken, festoenen, vruchtenkorfjes, putti en vogels met nesten. Beneden in het oudste deel van het huis brede paneeldeuren uit de oudste bouwfase. Op de scheiding tussen voor- en achterhuis een trappenhuis met trap met balusters. In de rechter kamer een vroeg 19de-eeuwse schoorsteenmantel met festoenen in wit en zwart marmer. Boven en in de achtergang beneden smallere en rijkere paneeldeuren. In de tuinkamer een eenvoudig stucplafond met bloemmotieven.
De kapconstuctie bestaat uit vier, deels hergebruikte spantjukken met driehoeksspanten uit de oudste bouwfase, met gehakte en eitjesmerken.

Het herenhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-ecomomische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting en verbouw van woningen in het bestaande dorpsbeeld; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het woonhuis. Description
Two-storey plastered mansion with a facade plastered in Flemish bond of six bays on a plinth with cassette ornamentation. T-windows with stucco moulding, on the upper storey provided with hood and window pediment. The entrance with recessed door with Art Deco motifs. Cornice line under the windows of the upper storey. Above the entrance balcony with wrought-iron fence resting on volute corbels. The balcony door with leaded glass and etched glass. The cornice has volute corbels. The side facades have T-windows with stucco moulding. Hipped roof with corner chimneys with smoke cap, covered with tuile du nord tiles. Stoep and fence with chains between sandstone posts. Right-angled extension under gabled roof from c. 1910, with lacing courses and arched windows, raised somewhat c. 1960 and the adjoining garden room under hipped roof.
Internally two cellars, one with barrel vault under the front house, dating from the oldest building phase, one with troughs in neat brickwork on iron profiles under the right-angled kitchen extension. There is a central corridor, continuing into the extension of c. 1900. Stucco ceilings with rich detailing and on the garden side double doors with etched glass. In the left and right front room, in the study and the bedrooms above rich stucco ceilings with among others vines, festoons, fruit baskets, putti and birds with nests. Below in the oldest part of the house broad panel doors from the oldest building phase. On the division between front and rear house a staircase hall with staircase with balusters. In the right room an early 19th-century chimneypiece mantel with festoons in white and black marble. Above and in the rear passage below narrower and richer panel doors. In the garden room a simple stucco ceiling with floral motifs.
The roof truss structure consists of four, partly reused roof trusses with triangular braces from the oldest building phase, with hacked marks and carpenters' marks.
