Inleiding
Naast het klooster der paters Kruisheren bevindt zich een langgerekt SCHOOLGEBOUW uit 1921-22, dat in 1924 nogmaals is uitgebreid. Het is ontworpen door architect C. Franssen in een sobere baksteenstijl met motieven van de Amsterdamse School.
Omschrijving
Het uit baksteen opgetrokken geheel bestaat uit een uit 1924 daterend, dwarsgericht voorgebouw van drie traveeën diep met een tussenlid van vier traveeën en hierop aansluitend een uit 1921 daterend onderkelderd gebouw van elf traveeën, afgesloten door een trappehuis. Het voorgebouw heeft een schilddak met tuile du nord-pannen, de overige delen hebben een zadeldak. Het voorgebouw vertoont een rijke detaillering in baksteen.
De voorgevel is symmetrisch en heeft een middenrisaliet met bekroning in natuursteen, geflankeerd door blinde zijvelden. In de driedelige risaliet de glas-in-loodramen van het trappehuis, geflankeerd door twee terugliggende ingangen met paraboolboog, paneeldeuren en glas-in-lood bovenlicht. De bogen met ornamentale, natuurstenen aanzet- en sluitstenen en erbinnen twee gekoppelde ramen. De zijgevels van de eerste drie traveeën hebben een kolossale orde in baksteen met gestileerde ionische bekroningen in natuursteen, die doorloopt over de overige vier traveeën. Boven de lijst een lage mezzaninoverdieping met gegroefd metselwerk. Samengestelde zes- en driedelige ramen, deels met kleine roedeverdeling, deels met glas-in-lood uit ca. 1960. Deze vleugel heeft een gedenksteen met de tekst: "ME POSUERUNT CRUCIGERI, AUSPICE HENRICO HOLLMANN PRID. NON. IUN. A.D. MCMXXIV".
Het achtergebouw is overeenkomstig maar eenvoudiger vormgegeven. In hoofdzaak is er ook hier sprake van een bakstenen pilastergevel met een gestileerde kolossale orde over twee etages, waarboven een lagere mezzaninoverdieping, afgesloten door een brede lijstgoot op klossen. Tussen de pilasters drie- en zesdelige samengestelde ramen, met kleine roedeverdeling. De indeling van het trappehuis wijkt hiervan af. Tegen de eindgevel aan de achterzijde toiletuitbouwen. De gevelsteen draagt de tekst: "ME POSUERUNT PL.R.D.H. HOLLMANN, MAG. GEN. ORD. S. CR. ET G. VAN MIL, PRIOR UDENSIS, 6.10.1921".
Waardering
Het schoolgebouw is van cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van de geestelijke en onderwijskundige ontwikkeling van Oost-Brabant en heeft ensemblewaarde als deel van een ensemble van kerkelijke gebouwen nabij het Kruisherenklooster.

The whole, constructed of brick, consists of a front building dating from 1924, oriented transversely, three bays deep with an intermediate section of four bays and adjoining it a building dating from 1921 with a basement of eleven bays, closed off by a stairwell. The front building has a hipped roof with tuile du nord tiles, the remaining parts have a gabled roof. The front building displays rich detailing in brick.
The front facade is symmetrical and has a central risalit with a natural stone crowning, flanked by blind side fields. In the tripartite risalit the stained-glass windows of the stairwell, flanked by two recessed entrances with parabolic arch, panel doors and stained-glass fanlight. The arches with ornamental, natural stone impost and springer stones and within them two coupled windows. The side facades of the first three bays have a colossal order in brick with stylised Ionic crownings in natural stone, which continues over the remaining four bays. Above the moulding a low mezzanine storey with fluted masonry. Composite six- and three-part windows, some with small glazing bars, some with stained glass dating from c. 1960. This wing has a memorial stone with the text: "ME POSUERUNT CRUCIGERI, AUSPICE HENRICO HOLLMANN PRID. NON. IUN. A.D. MCMXXIV".
The rear building is designed similarly but more simply. Essentially it also features a brick pilaster facade with a stylised colossal order over two storeys, above which a lower mezzanine storey, closed off by a broad cornice gutter on corbels.
