Inleiding
In 1922 in een traditionele stijl gebouwd POLITIEBUREAU ten behoeve van de wijk Heerlerheide.
Het politiebureau werd gebouwd naar een ontwerp van de architecten J. Stuyt en A. Bartels.
Het gebouw is gesitueerd op de hoek van de Heulsstraat en de Netelstraat.
Aan de achtergevel zijn diverse aanbouwen van omstreeks 1990 gerealiseerd. Deze zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het voormalige politiebureau bezit een V-vormige plattegrond, telt twee, deels drie, bouwlagen en een dakverdieping. De zadeldaken en schilddaken zijn gedekt met leien in kruisdekking. Houten bakgoot op houten klossen. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen in twee tinten. Rechthoekige houten vensters deels met bovenlichten. Rechthoekige houten deuren. Deur van hoofdtoegang met rondboogvormig bovenlicht met roedeverdeling. Vensters in de achtergevel met kunststof kozijnen.
HOEKGEDEELTE MET HOOFDINGANG iets vooruitspringend en met afgeschuinde hoek. Dit bouwvolume telt drie bouwlagen en wordt afgedekt met een schilddak met leien. Op het dak een dakkapel, en een lantaarn met hierin een uurwerk.
Hoofdingang met een Florentijnse boog in natuursteen. Aan de bovenzijde van de vensters in de tweede bouwlaag van het hoekgedeelte een drietal gevelstenen met symbolen van o.a. de rechtspraak.
FRONTGEVELS AAN HEULSSTRAAT EN NETELSTRAAT vrijwel identiek.
Beide gevels met natuursteen plint. Hoekdelen iets vooruitspringend en uitlopend in een doorlopend geveldeel met drie bouwlagen en afgedekt met een schilddak en bekroond met een nokpion. In beide hoekdelen een rechthoekige houten deur met bovenlicht. Bouwvolume aan de Heulsstraat met een blinde linkerzijgevel.
Aan de ACHTERGEVEL enkele uitbouwen in een en twee bouwlagen met platte daken. Aan deze uitbouwen diverse aanbouwen van omstreeks 1990.
Hoofdstructuur van het INTERIEUR van het gebouw bestaande uit o.a. gangen, trappenhuis en aangrenzende vertrekken, is vrijwel in tact.
Waardering
Het voormalige politiebureau van Heerlerheide bezit cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-maatschappelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. Het gebouw bezit architectuurhistorische waarden wegens het bijzondere belang voor het oeuvre van de architecten Jan Stuyt en Anton Bartels, wegens de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek. Binnen de hiërarchische architectuur van Stuyt betreft dit een typisch voorbeeld van een overheidsgebouw bedoeld ter ordehandhaving in een grote mijnwerkerskolonie. Ensemblewaarde ontleent het object aan zijn situering en daarmee van belang voor het aanzien van dit deel van de gemeente Heerlen. Het object is tenslotte van algemeen belang vanwege de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de architectuurhistorische, functionele en typologische zeldzaamheid.

In 1922 a POLICE STATION was built in a traditional style for the district of Heerlerheide.

Corner sections slightly projecting and extending into a continuous facade section with three storeys and covered with a hipped roof and crowned with a roof ridge ornament. On the REAR FACADE several extensions in one and two storeys with flat roofs. On these extensions various outbuildings from approximately 1990.
Main structure of the INTERIOR of the building consisting of amongst others corridors, stairwell and adjacent rooms, is virtually intact.
Valuation
The former police station of Heerlerheide possesses cultural-historical values as a distinctive expression of a social and typological development. The building possesses architectural-historical values due to its distinctive significance for the oeuvre of architects Jan Stuyt and Anton Bartels, due to the high-quality aesthetic qualities of the design, the distinctive use of materials and the ornamentation. Within Stuyt's hierarchical architecture this is a typical example of a government building intended for law enforcement in a large mining workers' colony. The object derives ensemble value from its location and is thereby significant for the appearance of this part of the municipality of Heerlen.
