Inleiding
HOOIHUIS gebouwd omstreeks 1900. Het hooihuis staat op een lange smalle kavel aan de oostzijde van en haaks op de Dorpsstraat. De kavel wordt aan de oostzijde begrensd door een brede sloot. Het hooihuis staat dicht aan de sloot zodat het hooi vanuit boten direct in het hooihuis kon worden getast.
NB De als stal gebouwde buitenstijlruimte dateert van omstreeks 1965.
Omschrijving
Hooihuis op rechthoekig grondplan met een inwendig houtskelet en een in gepotdekseld beschot uitgevoerde oost- en zuidgevel. Aan de noord- en westgevel grenst een buitenstijlruimte uit 1965. De houten gevels hebben een in baksteen uitgevoerde plint. Het houtskelet bestaat uit een vierkant met tussen de zware hoekstijlen telkens vier tussenstijlen. Het hooihuis heeft een met pannen gedekt tentdak met makelaars op de beide nokuiteinden. De oostgevel die aan de sloot staat heeft drie laadluiken boven elkaar. De zuidgevel heeft een hoogeplaatst laadluik.
Waardering
Het hooihuis is van algemeen belang uit cultuur-en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van streekeigen agrarische bouwkunst uit de periode rond 1900. HAYBARN built circa 1900. The haybarn stands on a long narrow plot on the east side of and at right angles to the Dorpsstraat. The plot is bounded on the east side by a wide ditch. The haybarn stands close to the ditch so that hay could be loaded directly into the haybarn from boats.
NB The exterior space built as a barn dates from circa 1965.
Description
Haybarn on a rectangular plan with an internal timber frame and east and south facades executed in clay-pantiled boarding. A barn outbuilding from 1965 adjoins the north and west facades. The timber facades have a brick plinth. The timber frame consists of a square with four intermediate posts between the heavy corner posts. The haybarn has a pan-tiled hip roof with roof ridge ornaments at both ridge ends. The east facade facing the ditch has three loading doors one above the other. The south facade has a high-placed loading door.
Valuation
The haybarn is of general importance from a cultural and architectural historical perspective as a well-preserved example of regional agricultural architecture from the period around 1900. The haybarn also has situational value as part of the village character of Watergang, the uniquely developed spatial image of which is determined by the silhouettes of various haybarns.
