Omschrijving
MACHINEKAMER/KETELHUIS(1921) met WATERTOREN(1896). Gebouw dat uit drie onderdelen bestaat, allen opgetrokken in bruine baksteen. Aan de voorzijde de machinekamer onder zadeldak, daarachter het ketelhuis onder zadeldak en daarnaast de watertoren onder afgeknot tentdak. Alle kappen zijn gedekt met zwarte Friese golfpannen. Op het dak van het ketelhuis staan twee zinken ontluchtingselementen, in de vorm van een paddestoel, die ooit op alle gebouwen hebben gestaan.
De WATERTOREN op vierkante grondslag met gemetseld trasraam, hoeklisenen en een fries met muizetand. Langs de dakrand een gootlijst op klampen. Hoog in de zuidgevel zijn drie kleine rechthoekige openingen met gietijzeren roosters: ongeveer halverwege de overige gevels vensters onder getoogde strekken. Tegen de oostgevel is een aanbouw onder plat dak (1921) met twaalfruitsvenster en een originele paneeldeur onder drieruits bovenlicht. Deze aanbouw geeft ook toegang tot het naastgelegen ketelhuis. De voorgevel van de MACHINEKAMER heeft lisenen en een fries in dezelfde vormgeving als het kantoorgebouw. Op de begane grond zijn drie stalen meerruitsvensters; in de geveltop centraal eenzelfde venster; aan weerszijden ruitvormige gemetselde decoraties in de gevel; in de noordgevel drie, hoog in de gevel geplaatste, dubbele vierruitsvensters onder strekken.
Tussen de kappen van de machinekamer en het achtergelegen ketelhuis is een uitstekende tuitgevel. In de zijgevels van het KETELHUIS grote negenruitsvensters en hoog in de gevel geplaatste dubbele vierruitsvensters. In de achtergevel met lisenen en fries is de uitgang voor het rookkanaal naar de schoorsteen nu gedicht maar aan weerszijden bevinden zich nog de kolenluiken; hierboven drie achtruitsvensters met stalen kozijnen. Centraal in de geveltop een zelfde venster.
Waardering
De machinekamer met ketelhuis en watertoren uit 1921 en 1896 is van algemeen belang:
- als essentieel ruimtelijk en functioneel onderdeel van het complex Trynwâlden;
- vanwege de redelijke mate van gaafheid van het exterieur.

MACHINE ROOM/BOILER HOUSE (1921) with WATER TOWER (1896). Building consisting of three components, all constructed in brown brick. At the front the machine room under a gabled roof, behind it the boiler house under a gabled roof and beside it the water tower under a truncated pavilion roof. All roofs are covered with black Frisian pantiles. On the roof of the boiler house stand two zinc ventilation elements, in the shape of a mushroom, which once stood on all buildings.
The WATER TOWER on a square ground plan with mortared transom window, corner quoins and a frieze with dog-tooth pattern. Along the roof edge a gutter moulding on cleats. High in the south facade are three small rectangular openings with cast-iron grilles: approximately halfway up the other facades windows under arched stretches. Against the east facade is an extension under a flat roof (1921) with a twelve-pane window and an original panelled door under a three-pane fanlight. This extension also provides access to the adjacent boiler house. The front facade of the MACHINE ROOM has quoins and a frieze in the same design as the office building. On the ground floor are three steel multi-pane windows; in the gable top centrally the same window; on either side diamond-shaped mortared decorations in the facade; in the north facade three, placed high in the facade, double four-pane windows under stretches.
Between the roofs of the machine room and the boiler house behind is a projecting spout gable. In the side facades of the BOILER HOUSE large nine-pane windows and placed high in the facade double four-pane windows. In the rear facade with quoins and frieze the exit for the flue to the chimney is now closed but on either side the coal hatches remain; above this three eight-pane windows with steel frames.
