Inleiding
De bij de in hoofdzaak negentiende-eeuwse boerderij 'Hoogkraan' behorende WAGENSCHUUR/koetshuis is evenals het zomerhuis omstreeks 1900 tot stand gekomen. De vrijstaande schuur bevindt zich ten noordoosten van het bedrijfsgedeelte van de boerderij.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een min of meer L-vormige plattegrond, in grotendeels gepleisterde baksteen opgetrokken wagenschuur/koetshuis staat onder een met bouletpannen gedekt, gebroken zadeldak. De gevels zijn wit gesausd met grijs geschilderde plint. In schoon metselwerk uitgevoerde elementen als keperbogen rondom deuren en vensters vormen een contrasterend accent. Naar de weg gekeerde, symmetrische ingedeelde puntgevel (zuidwest) heeft in het midden een dubbele inrijdeur, beschilderd met zandlopermotief. Boven de deuren zitten openslaande luiken onder een keperboogvormig bovenlicht met driedelig roedenverdeling. De middenpartij met voornoemde gevelopeningen wordt omlijst door een licht uitgemetselde, keperboogvormige omlijsting. Aan weerszijden hiervan een keperboogvenster met een zesruits raam onder een driehoekig bovenlicht, binnen een eveneens keperboogvormige omlijsting. In de linker langsgevel zit van rechts naar links een keperboogvenster met een uit het bovenraam stekend houten duifhuis, een deur onder een eveneens keperboogvormig bovenlicht en een reeks van zes getoogde vensters met ijzeren ramen. Uit het onderste deel van het dakschild boven deze gevel steekt een dakkapel met zadeldak en luiken met keperboogvormig bovenlicht. De achterste kopgevel is grotendeels vernieuwd. De rechter langsgevel heeft een krimp. Het terugliggende linker deel van deze gevel bevatte oorspronkelijk een deur onder keperboogvormig bovenlicht en een eveneens keperboogvormig venster. Het venster is gehandhaafd; de deur is dichtgemetseld. Het rechter deel (krimp) draagt een ongebroken dakschild. Het dwars staande geveldeel van de krimp bevat een segmentboogvormig venster met ijzeren raam. De overige vensters zijn segmentboogvormig of zijn vernieuwde rechthoekige vensters, voorzien van houten kozijnen.
Waardering
De als zodanig herkenbare wagenschuur is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de geschiedenis van de boerderij en als een goed voorbeeld van één van de in Zuid-Holland voorkomende schuurtypes uit omstreeks 1900 in Eclectische trant.
De schuur heeft landschappelijke- en ensemblewaarde door de ruimtelijk-functionele en deels ook stilistische relatie met de overige complexonderdelen. Als zodanig is het van belang als complexonderdeel van een in het vlakke en open polderlandschap, nabij de rivier de Rijn, gesitueerde boerderij, die deel uitmaakt van een waardevolle boerderijstrook. De wagenschuur is gaaf wat betreft hoofdvorm en materiaalgebruik.

The WAGON SHED/carriage house belonging to the mainly nineteenth-century farmhouse 'Hoogkraan' was constructed around 1900, as was the summer house. The detached shed is situated to the northeast of the agricultural part of the farmhouse.
Description
From a somewhat L-shaped ground plan, the wagon shed/carriage house is constructed in largely rendered brick and stands under a hipped roof with mansard tiles. The facades are whitewashed with a grey-painted plinth. Elements executed in fair-faced brickwork such as herringbone arches around doors and windows form a contrasting accent. The symmetrically arranged pointed gable facing the road (southwest) has at its centre a double carriage door, painted with a hourglass motif. Above the doors are hinged shutters under a herringbone arch-shaped fanlight with three-part glazing bars. The middle section with the aforementioned gable openings is framed by a lightly emphasised herringbone arch-shaped moulding. On either side of this a herringbone arch window with a six-light window under a triangular fanlight, within likewise a herringbone arch-shaped moulding. In the left side facade from right to left is a herringbone arch window with a wooden dovecote projecting from the upper light, a door under likewise a herringbone arch-shaped fanlight and a series of six arched windows with iron frames. From the lower part of the roof slope above this facade projects a roof dormer with a gabled roof and shutters with herringbone arch-shaped fanlight. The rear gable is largely renewed. The right side facade has a setback. The recessed left part of this facade originally contained a door under a herringbone arch-shaped fanlight and likewise a herringbone arch window. The window is retained; the door is bricked up. The right part (setback) carries an unbroken roof slope. The transversely positioned gable part of the setback contains a segmental arch window with iron frame. The remaining windows are segmental arch or are renewed rectangular windows, fitted with wooden frames.
Valuation
The wagon shed as such is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural historical value because of the history of the farmhouse and as a good example of one of the shed types found in South Holland from around 1900 in Eclectic style.
The shed has landscape and ensemble value through the spatial-functional and partly also stylistic relationship with the other complex components. As such it is of importance as a component of a farmhouse situated in the flat and open polder landscape, near the Rhine river, which forms part of a valuable farmstead strip. The wagon shed is intact with regard to its principal form and material use.
