Inleiding
In 1940-41 gebouwde HOOITAS, behorende bij boerderij van het hallehuistype met langsdeel, is opgetrokken in een aan de Delftse School verwante stijl. De 'Hoeve Welgelegen' genaamde boerderij staat op de plaats waar een op 14 mei 1940 door een Duitse bom verwoeste knip (kaasboerderij) stond. Deze werd in opdracht van het 'Bureau voor Wederopbouw Boerderijen' in Amersfoort vervangen door een zogenaamde "wederopbouw boerderij". De boerderij was bestemd voor A.B. Verkleij en is gebouwd naar een van december 1940 daterend ontwerp van de architecten Van der Laan en Reyneveld (Leiden). De naast de boerderij staande schuur is gebouwd als hooitas en was tevens voorzien van een privaat en een stal voor jongvee.
Omschrijving
Vanuit een rechthoekige plattegrond, in schone baksteen opgetrokken hooitas onder een hoog, met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak met zeeg. De gevels worden beëindigd door uitgemetselde randen. De naar de boerderij gekeerde gevel staat onder een wolfseind en is hoger opgaand dan de overige gevels. De begane grond bevat een rechtgesloten deur onder rollaag en een klein, eveneens onder rollaag staand venster. Op de verdieping bevindt zich een rechtgesloten hooiluik. Het rechter deel van de gevel is iets risalerend en verbonden met het open deel van het tussenlid naar de boerderij.
De evenwijdig aan de Achthovenerweg staande langsgevel bevat drie, uit een boven- en een onderdeur samengestelde rechtgesloten deuren, alsmede een klein, onder rollaag staand privaatvenster. In de van de boerderij afgekeerde gevel zitten vijf getoogde stalvensters, die zijn ingevuld met betonnen tweeruits ramen met ventilatiedorpels. De op de Oude Rijn georiënteerde langsgevel bevat een identiek venster.
Waardering
De hooitas annex schuur is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een typologische ontwikkeling in de boerderijbouw. A HAY BARN built in 1940-41, belonging to a farmhouse of the hall house type with longitudinal section, is constructed in a style related to the Delft School. The farmhouse named 'Hoeve Welgelegen' stands on the site where a cheese farmhouse (knip) destroyed by a German bomb on 14 May 1940 once stood. The hay barn annex barn is of general importance because of its cultural and architectural-historical value as a distinctive expression of a typological development in farmstead construction. As such, it belongs with an early example of a 'reconstruction farmhouse' from the 1940s of the twentieth century, designed in a style related to the Delft School.
