Omschrijving onderdeel 11: DIENSTWONINGEN (Amsteldijk Zuid 59-62).
Inleiding
Deze DIENSTWONINGEN, genaamd 'Ruimzicht', kwamen omstreeks 1940 tot stand in Traditionalistische stijl en waren bestemd voor hogere beambten van de Springstoffenfabriek in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. De woningen bevinden zich op de Amsteldijk, ten zuiden van de fabriek.
Omschrijving
Het bouwblok bestaat uit vier beambtenwoningen, elk afzonderlijk op rechthoekige grondslag gebouwd, met in het midden een overkluisde doorgang naar achteren. De woningen bestaan uit één bouwlaag, kelder en zolderverdieping. Ze worden bekroond door een zadeldak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de Amstel is georiënteerd. Het is bekleed met rode, Oudhollandse dakpannen. De woningen zijn met machinale bakstenen gemetseld in kettingverband. De gevelindeling van de woningen is gespiegeld ten opzichte van elkaar. Elke woning kent aan de voorzijde een getralied venster in de kelderverdieping en een venster met twee vierruits draairamen op de begane grond. Op de begane grond is eveneens een inpandig portiek met deur onder een getoogde doorgang opgenomen. Het portiek is bereikbaar via een bakstenen trap vanuit de voortuin. Tenslotte bezit de voorgevel twee kleine vensters. De kap kent een vrij hoge borstwering en is voorzien van een dakkapel die aansluit op het metselwerk van de voorgevel. De dakgoot is geprofileerd en rust op klossen. De kopgevels van het bouwblok tonen kleine vensters. Aan de achterzijde bezit de kelderverdieping een volwaardige hoogte door het aflopende terrein achter de dijk. De gevel toont hier openslaande deuren en ijzeren toegangstrappen.
De onderdoorgang tussen de woningen is afgesloten door houten deuren. Boven de doorgang is in smeedijzeren letters de naam 'Ruimzicht' afleesbaar. Verder zijn hier een vlaggenstok en een zesruits venster aanwezig.
Waardering
De DIENSTWONINGEN zijn van algemeen belang:
- als historisch functioneel onderdeel behorend bij en gelegen naast het complex van de Springstoffenfabriek;
- uit cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch oogpunt als gaaf bewaarde gebleven voorbeeld van beambtenwoningen in Traditionalistische stijl, van omstreeks 1940;

Introduction
These SERVICE DWELLINGS, named 'Ruimzicht', were constructed circa 1940 in Traditionalist style and were intended for senior officials of the Explosives Factory in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. The dwellings are situated on the Amsteldijk, to the south of the factory.
Description
The building block consists of four official dwellings, each individually built on a rectangular ground plan, with a vaulted passageway in the middle leading to the rear. The dwellings consist of one storey, basement and attic storey. They are crowned with a gabled roof whose ridge is oriented parallel to the Amstel. It is clad with red, Old Dutch roof tiles. The dwellings are built with machine-made bricks laid in running bond. The facade arrangement of the dwellings is mirrored with respect to each other. Each dwelling has on the front side a barred window on the basement storey and a window with two four-pane casement windows on the ground floor. On the ground floor there is also an internal porch with a door under an arched passage. The porch is accessible via a brick staircase from the front garden. Finally the front facade has two small windows. The roof has a fairly high parapet and is fitted with a roof dormer that aligns with the masonry of the front facade. The roof gutter is moulded and rests on consoles. The end gables of the building block show small windows. On the rear side the basement storey has full height due to the sloping terrain behind the dyke. The facade shows here opening doors and iron access stairways.
The underpassage between the dwellings is closed by wooden doors. Above the passage the name 'Ruimzicht' is legible in wrought-iron letters. Furthermore a flagpole and a six-pane window are present here.
Valuation
The SERVICE DWELLINGS are of general importance:
- as a historically functional component belonging to and situated beside the complex of the Explosives Factory;
- from a cultural-historical and architectural-historical perspective as a well-preserved example of official dwellings in Traditionalist style, circa 1940;
- through the functional relationship to the complex;
