Omschrijving onderdeel 1: LABORATORIUM (De Oude Molen 1).
Inleiding
Het LABORATORIUM, gesitueerd op het voorterrein, is gebouwd tegen de watertoren. Het huidige volume is in drie fasen tot stand gekomen. Het kleinste bouwdeel onder plat dak tegen de watertoren werd gebouwd in 1910 naar het ontwerp van B.J. Ouendag. Het gedeelte dat hier haaks op staat, dateert uit twee verschillende perioden. De eerste aanzet stamt uit 1925. Een decennium later werd ten oosten een identiek bouwvolume gerealiseerd. In 1955 werd het laboratorium nog uitgebreid met een vleugel van twee bouwlagen. Dit bouwdeel werd in het laatste decennium van de twintigste eeuw gesloopt. De overige bouwdelen werden verbouwd tot kantoor.
Omschrijving
Het laboratorium bestaat thans uit twee volumes en een gang naar de watertoren. De gang presenteert zich als een klein, platgedekt gebouw waarvan het metselwerk koud tegen de watertoren is aangebracht. Ten zuiden daarvan bevindt zich een klein, éénlaags laboratorium dat eveneens van een plat dak is voorzien en waarvan de gevels gekoppelde vensters bezitten. Tegen de zuidgevel van het laboratorium bevindt zich de uitbreiding uit 1925 en circa 1935. Dit bouwdeel is gebouwd op rechthoekige grondslag, opgetrokken uit machinale bakstenen en voorzien van een zadeldak met gesmoorde kruispannen. De nok van het dak is oost-west georiënteerd. De langsgevels bezitten vensters in verdiepte muurvlakken. In de topgevels zijn verschillende soorten gevelopeningen opgenomen. Tegen de oostelijke topgevel is een brandtrap geplaatst.

Introduction
The LABORATORY, situated on the forecourt, is built against the water tower. The current volume was created in three phases. The smallest building element under flat roof against the water tower was built in 1910 to the design of B.J. Ouendag. The section that stands at right angles to it dates from two different periods. The first phase dates from 1925. A decade later an identical building volume was realised to the east. In 1955 the laboratory was further extended with a wing of two storeys. This building element was demolished in the last decade of the twentieth century. The remaining building elements were converted into an office.
Description
The laboratory currently consists of two volumes and a passage to the water tower. The passage presents itself as a small, flat-roofed building whose brickwork is built cold against the water tower. To the south of this is a small, single-storey laboratory which is also provided with a flat roof and whose facades have coupled windows. Against the south gable of the laboratory is the extension from 1925 and circa 1935. This building element is built on a rectangular base, constructed from machine-made bricks and provided with a gabled roof with interlocked Spanish tiles. The roof ridge is oriented east-west. The longitudinal gables have windows in recessed wall surfaces. Various types of gable openings are incorporated in the end gables. A fire escape has been placed against the eastern end gable.
