Tot de historische buitenplaats Vaart en Duin behorende TUIN-EN PARKAANLEG
MET BIJBEHORENDE ONDERDELEN. De tuin- en parkaanleg van het landgoed Vaart
en Duin is in verschillende perioden tot stand gekomen.
Omschrijving
Op de zuidzijde van het terrein bevinden zich in het verwilderde loofbos
restanten van een 18de-eeuwse landschappelijke parkaanleg in de vorm van een
slingerende beek, bamboe-bossages, rhododendronstruiken, een brug met quasi
natuurstenen partijen en een laan van afwisselend linden en kastanjebomen.
Ook een ronde beukenlaan welke richting Brouwerskolk loopt behoort hiertoe.
Rondom het hoofdgebouw bevindt zich het meer gecultiveerde deel van de
buitenplaats. De tuin die hier ligt werd in 1916 aangelegd naar ontwerp van
de landschapsarchitect L.A. Springer. Deze tuin, waarvan nog grote delen
resteren, bestaat onder meer uit glooiende grasvelden, kleurrijke
heesterpartijen en oude solitaire loofbomen.
Op de overgang van tuin naar bos liggen, in de buurt van de tuinmanswoning
en orangerie, onder meer nog een ommuurde moestuin en enkele oude kassen.
Waardering
De tuin- en parkaanleg van de historische buitenplaats Vaart en Duin is van
algemeen belang uit cultuurhistorisch oogpunt en uit het oogpunt van de
geschiedenis van de tuinarchitectuur in Nederland als voorbeeld van een in
landschapsstijl aangelegde tuin die deels uit de 18de, deels uit het eerste
kwart van de 20ste eeuw dateert. Laatstgenoemde deel is tevens van belang
als onderdeel uit het oeuvre van landschapsarchitect L.A. Springer.

On the south side of the grounds there are remains of an 18th-century landscaped park layout in the form of a winding stream, bamboo bosques, rhododendron shrubbery, a bridge with quasi natural stone sections and an avenue of alternating lime and chestnut trees in the overgrown deciduous woodland. A round beech avenue which runs towards Brouwerskolk also belongs to this.
Around the main building there is the more cultivated part of the country estate. The garden located here was laid out in 1916 according to a design by landscape architect L.A. Springer. This garden, of which large parts remain, consists among other things of rolling lawns, colourful shrub plantings and old solitary deciduous trees.
