Inleiding
Villa "Eikenhorst" is gebouwd in 1934, in opdracht van J.M. Blokhuis naar ontwerp in traditionalistische Haagse School trant van ingenieur Daan Jansen en C. Bos, architecten te Utrecht. Typerend zijn een zorgvuldige materiaalkeuze en detaillering in een met eenvoudige middelen expressief vormgegeven bouwvolume.
De villa is gelegen aan De Molenkamp, tegen de bosrand. Van de sterk vergelijkbare overige bebouwing is Eikenhorst het fraaiste exemplaar in ligging, architectuur en gaafheid.
Omschrijving
Villa opgetrokken in baksteen over één bouwlaag, onder een met terracotta leien gedekte afgewolfde schildkap. Noors kettingverband. Alle kozijnen, behalve in de dakkapellen, zijn van staal.
De voorgevel (West) heeft een plastische werking door het balkon nagenoeg over de volle breedte onder het wolfeind. Op de begane grond zes staande vierruits laddervensters. Geheel rechts een driedelig venster waarvan de zijvensters eveneens vierruits laddervensters zijn. Op de verdieping, uitkomend op het balkon, vanaf links een deur met gekoppeld vierruits venster, een vierruits venster en een staande drieruits venster.
In de linker zijgevel (Noord) de entree. Links van de entree drie en rechts twee staande tweeruits laddervensters. In het dakschild een hoge kubische opbouw met een vierentwintigruits trappenlicht, oorspronkelijk zat hier een drie bij twaalf laddervenster.
In de achtergevel vanaf links een zestienruits venster, vier staande drieruits laddervensters (van de tweede is de onderste ruit dichtgezet), een paneeldeur met drieruits sleufvenster en een venster. Onder het wolfeind een achtruits en een twaalfruits venster. In het dakschild een ooglidvenster met tweeruits draairaam.
In de rechterzijgevel (Zuid) links een driedelig venster met vierruits laddervensters als zijdelen. Rechts een vierdelige tuindeur, met dichtgezette borstwering en per deur vierruits ladderroeden. Onder in het dakschild een grote dakkapel onder platdak met twee dubbele zesruits draairamen. Daarboven een ooglidvenster met tweeruits draairaam.
Interieur
In het gemoderniseerde interieur is de oorspronkelijke indeling aangehouden.

Huis Eikenhorst van cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang:

Villa "Eikenhorst" was built in 1934, commissioned by J.M. Blokhuis, designed in the traditionalist The Hague School manner by engineer Daan Jansen and C. Bos, architects in Utrecht. Characteristic are careful material selection and detailing in a building volume expressed with simple means.
The villa is situated on De Molenkamp, against the edge of woodland. Of the other highly comparable buildings, Eikenhorst is the finest example in location, architecture and condition.
Description
Villa constructed in brick over one storey, beneath a half-hipped roof covered with terracotta tiles. Norwegian bond. All windows, except in the roof dormers, are steel.
The front facade (West) has plastic effect through the balcony spanning virtually the full width under the half-hipped end. On the ground floor six tall four-pane ladder windows. Far right a three-part window of which the side windows are likewise four-pane ladder windows. On the upper floor, opening onto the balcony, from the left a door with coupled four-pane window, a four-pane window and a tall three-pane window.
In the left side facade (North) the entrance. To the left of the entrance three and to the right two tall two-pane ladder windows. In the roof section a tall cubic structure with a twenty-four-pane staircase light, originally a three by twelve ladder window was here.
In the rear facade from the left a sixteen-pane window, four tall three-pane ladder windows (of the second the lower pane is blocked), a panel door with three-pane slot window and a window. Under the half-hipped end an eight-pane and a twelve-pane window. In the roof section an eyelid window with two-pane casement.
In the right side facade (South) on the left a three-part window with four-pane ladder windows as side parts. On the right a four-part garden door, with blocked breast-rail and per door four-pane ladder glazing. Below in the roof section a large roof dormer beneath a flat roof with two double six-pane casements. Above it an eyelid window with two-pane casement.
Interior
In the modernised interior the original layout has been retained.
