Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
Villa "t Hosperhuis" was built in 1934 as a residence for the physician J.R. Hospers, designed by Jan Kruijer. The design is functionalist in conception, resulting in a cubistic ordering of facade images. The facades have considerable plasticity due to setbacks in the facade plane, loggias, balconies and oriels. The vertical element in the front facade with rounded brickwork serves as the pivot of the design to which all forms are hung. The concrete structure is exposed at facade openings. Hollow concrete floors from the Cornic concrete factory in Waddinxveen were used in construction.
The villa now serves as an office of the Noorder Dierenpark. The interior layout has largely been preserved. As has most of the original steel windows. The facades are painted.
The villa is characteristic of the densification pattern with villa-like development, prominent sited on the Hoofdstraat.
The protection concerns the total volume and spatial structure of the building and furthermore the architectural detailing where this is original.
