Inleiding
De watertoren van Dennenoord is gebouwd in 1896. Het ontwerp is uitgevoerd in neo-romaanse stijl, waarmee de toren een chateau d'eau geworden is. De toren is van karakteristiek belang in de ontwikkeling van de nutsvoorzieningen. Dat de toren in een cluster staat met het hoofdgebouw, de directeurswoning en de kerk van Dennenoord, onderstreept tevens de grootschaligheid en het belang van de psychiatrische inrichting.
De oorspronkelijke functie van de toren is overgenomen door het naastliggende pompgebouw. De toren fungeert als zendmast, op het dak is een antenne geplaatst.
Omschrijving
Cilindervormige watertoren. Donkere stenen basis met natuurstenen afzaat. Rode bakstenen schacht, met spiraalvormig klimmende banden van gele baksteen, afgesloten door uitgemetselde sierbanden. De behuizing van het reservoir staat op een uitkragend rondbogenfries, gedragen door natuurstenen consoles. Tussen de consoles ruitvormig sierwerk van gele baksteen. De behuizing is gedecoreerd met (uitgemetselde) banden en ruitmotieven van gele baksteen. Het reservoir is afgedekt door een twaalfvlakkig met leien gedekt tentdak met een geprofileerde daklijst. Op het dak een smeedijzeren windvaan met jaartal.
De watertoren heeft vier vensterassen. In de basis een rondboog met de entree, aan de overige zijden een zesruits rondboog, allen met een grote dagkant. In de schacht, tussen de spiraalvormige banden twee of drie zesruits rondboogvensters. In de reservoirbehuizing een rondboog blindnis. De vier vensterassen worden ieder in het tentdak beëindigd met een dakkapel onder plat dak.
InterieurInstallatie en reservoir zijn nog aanwezig.

The housing is decorated with (applied) bands and diamond motifs of yellow brick. The reservoir is covered by a twelve-sided tent roof clad with slates, with a profiled roof edge. On the roof a wrought-iron weathervane with date.
The water tower has four window bays. At the base a round arch with the entrance, on the other sides a six-pane round arch, all with a large splayed edge. In the shaft, between the spiralling bands two or three six-pane round-arch windows. In the reservoir housing a round-arch blind window. The four window bays are each terminated in the tent roof with a roof dormer under a flat roof.
