Inleiding
TOEGANGSHEK bij de in 1871 aangelegde algemene begraafplaats. Het rechthoekige terrein van de begraafplaats, omzoomd door bomen en een sloot, bestaat verschillende delen: een deel uit 1871 dat in 1904 werd uitgebreid en een deel uit 1950 met houten baarhuisje. Achter dit deel is in 1980, aan de andere kant van de sloot, een nieuw stuk aangelegd. Vroeger heeft er ook een dienstwoning op het terrein gestaan. Deze is nu verdwenen. De begraafplaats als zodanig is van lokaal belang.
Het toegangshek ligt op een gemetselde duiker aan de Schoolstraat, bij het parkeerterrein van de begraafplaats. Het hek is er waarschijnlijk tegelijk met de aanleg van de begraafplaats rond 1871 neergezet.
Omschrijving
Toegangshek bestaande uit twee platte, opengewerkte ijzeren hoofdpijlers en twee beweegbare ijzeren hekken. De gietijzeren pijlers zijn opgevuld met de volgende doodssymbolen: een zandloper met vleugels, twee gekruiste zeisen met op het kruispunt een slang die in zijn staart bijt en twee gekruiste omgekeerde toortsen. Aan de beide zijkanten van de pijlers bevindt zich een vleugelstuk van smeedijzeren krulwerk. De beweegbare hekken tussen de pijlers hebben smeedijzeren regels en spijlen met bovenop gietijzeren punten. Het onderste deel van de hekken is dichtgezet met een ijzeren plaat waarin zandlopers en omgekeerde zeisen in gestileerde vorm zijn geperforeerd. Het toegangshek wordt aan de achterzijde ondersteund door twee ijzeren langsschoren.

ENTRANCE GATE at the general burial ground laid out in 1871. The rectangular plot of the burial ground, bordered by trees and a ditch, consists of different sections: a section from 1871 which was enlarged in 1904 and a section from 1950 with a wooden bier house. Behind this section, in 1980, on the other side of the ditch, a new section was laid out. Previously a service house also stood on the plot. This has now disappeared. The burial ground as such is of local importance.
The entrance gate is situated on a masoned culvert on the Schoolstraat, at the car park of the burial ground. The gate was probably erected at the same time as the laying out of the burial ground around 1871.
Description
Entrance gate consisting of two flat, open-worked iron main pillars and two movable iron gates. The cast iron pillars are filled with the following symbols of death: a winged hourglass, two crossed scythes with a snake biting its tail at the crossing point and two crossed inverted torches. On both sides of the pillars is a wing section of wrought iron scrollwork. The movable gates between the pillars have wrought iron rails and spikes with cast iron points on top. The lower part of the gates is closed with an iron plate in which hourglasses and inverted scythes in stylised form are perforated. The entrance gate is supported at the rear by two iron longitudinal braces.
