Inleiding
In 1853 werd door het bestuur van de rooms-katholieke St. Joseph parochie te Zeist een begraafplaats aangelegd achter de uit 1846 daterende kerk. De begraafplaats werd in 1976 gesloten. Begin jaren '80 is de kerk afgebroken. Op deze begraafplaats bevindt zich ter rechterzijde van het hoofdpad, in het achterste gedeelte, de graftombe van L.F. de Bruijn. De bescherming van het object Utrechtseweg 60 richt zich met specifiek op deze tombe. Mogelijk is de tombe van de hand van de beeldhouwer Georges, die twee jaar eerder een dergelijke tombe maakte voor de begraafplaats te Driebergen (Kerkplein).
Omschrijving
Natuurstenen GRAFMONUMENT in de vorm van een sarcofaag, van Leonardus Franciscus de Bruijn, overleden op 23 april 1861.
De tombe heeft een rechthoekig grondplan. De hoeken van de tombe zijn zwaarder aangezet in de vorm van pilasters. De plint van de tombe risaleert, echter niet zover als de pilasters, en is afgewerkt met een golvend ornament.
De deksel van de tombe heeft een zadeldakvorm met vlakke rechte zijden en een klein overstek, waaronder een eierlijst is aangebracht. Op de schuine zijden van de deksel staat een tekst, die nauwelijks meer leesbaar is. Over het voeteneinde van de tombe ligt een gebeeldhouwd stenen kleed met kwasten aan de uiteinden.
Aan het hoofdeinde van de tombe is een Alfa-Omega symbool, uitgevoerd in brons, bevestigd.

Introduction

Description
Natural stone GRAVE MONUMENT in the form of a sarcophagus, of Leonardus Franciscus de Bruijn, who died on 23 April 1861.
The tomb has a rectangular ground plan. The corners of the tomb are more heavily accentuated in the form of pilasters. The plinth of the tomb risalits, but not as far as the pilasters, and is finished with an undulating ornament.
The lid of the tomb has a saddle roof shape with flat straight sides and a small overhang, beneath which an egg moulding is applied. On the sloping sides of the lid is a text, which is barely legible anymore. Over the foot end of the tomb lies a carved stone cloth with tassels at the ends.
At the head end of the tomb is an Alpha-Omega symbol, executed in bronze, fixed.
Valuation
The grave monument of L.F. de Bruijn from 1861 located on the former Roman Catholic cemetery is of cultural historical value as well as of architectural historical value because of the uncommon and finely designed sarcophagus form with partially displaced stone cloth and neoclassical decorations.
