The register's description

Omschrijving:

Description:

A FARMHOUSE situated on the Bunsinglaan of small format hall-house type, erected on an almost rectangular ground plan with one storey under a thatched gabled roof with half-hipped ends with the ridge at right angles to the road. In the centre of the ridge is a brick stone chimney. The ridge is capped with ridge tiles. The roof panels are interrupted only by a small cast-iron roof window. The roof has generous overhanging eaves on the front and is furnished there with wooden wind braces.

The facades are laid in alternating bond above a cemented plinth. The stepped gables are provided with woven timber fill. Wall anchors have been placed in various locations in the facade. The masonry at the top and bottom of the window frames is finished with roll courses. Below the bottom of the frame and above the roll course there is additionally a flat course. The front or west facade has a symmetrical arrangement with in the centre two large six-pane sash windows with panel shutters and on either side of these two four-pane sash windows also furnished with panel shutters. On the storey level there is a double casement window.

The rear facade contains two doors, a small casement window with glazing bars and a six-pane sash window with clamped shutters. On the storey level there is also a small casement window with glazing bars as well as a double casement window. On the right of the rear facade is an outbuilding under a flat roof. This houses the privy. In the outbuilding is one small window.

The left side facade is entirely cemented above the plinth and contains on the right a barred cellar window and further a barred window with panel shutters, a door and a double casement window with panel shutters.

The right side facade contains two casement windows with glazing bars. The windows are furnished with clamped shutters.

The roof truss structure consists of six trusses. The roof covering rests on rafters. The ground plan layout is largely original and is divided into two parts by a stone party wall. The front part of the farmhouse contains on the left a small upper room above a cellar with behind it a small room. On the right the dwelling has a narrow small room. In the centre of this part of the farmhouse is the living room. This front room contains -against the party wall- a fireplace with manganese-coloured tiles placed in a square pattern. The panel is presumably Frisian and dates from the building period of the farmhouse. Behind the party wall was originally the stable section. This was converted over the course of the nineteenth century into a kitchen and servants' loft with a built-in bed. In the kitchen are original cupboards and a fireplace with a baking oven. Between the kitchen and the servants' loft is a small passage with a wooden staircase to the loft.

Valuation:

The farmhouse is of cultural-historical value as an example of a small farmhouse of the hall-house type. It is furthermore of value because of the integrity of the interior and of ensemble value because of its combination with the barn hill behind it and its situation in the rural setting.
