Omschrijving onderdeel 4:
TOEGANGSPOORT met BRUG, XVIIIb, wellicht ontworpen door de Akense architect Couven. De poort (aan de kasteelzijde van de brug) heeft twee kruispijlers in baksteen met rijkgeprofileerde dekplaten in mergel en bekroning van vierkante mergelvazen; tussen de pijlers een poort in baksteen met afgeplatte toog met hardstenen omlijsting; daarboven een leien ezelsrugdakje; houten deurvleugels met manspoortje. Aan de buitenzijde worden de pijlers geflankeerd door grote voluutvormige wangen in mergel; deze rusten op bakstenen in- en uitzwenkende keermuren, die uit de gracht oprijzen; op het einde van de muren pijlers, die identiek zijn aan de poortpijlers. De westelijke keermuur loopt - in mergel - door tot aan de zuidoostpunt van de zuidgevel van het bijgebouw - daar eindigt de gracht. De bakstenen brug heeft twee togen en een lage borstwering, die aansluit op de poortpijlers; brugdek gestraat met veldkeien.

Description of component 4:
ENTRANCE GATE with BRIDGE, second half of the 18th century, possibly designed by the Aachen architect Couven. The gate (on the castle side of the bridge) has two cross piers in brick with richly profiled cope stones in marl and finials of square marl urns; between the piers a gate in brick with flattened arch with ashlar surround; above it a slate sagging-roof roof; wooden gate leaves with porter's door. On the outside the piers are flanked by large volute-shaped corbels in marl; these rest on brick in- and out-curving retaining walls, which rise from the moat; at the end of the walls piers, which are identical to the gate piers. The western retaining wall continues - in marl - to the south-east point of the south facade of the outbuilding - the moat ends there. The brick bridge has two arches and a low parapet, which adjoins the gate piers; bridge deck paved with field stones.
