Omschrijving
BRUGGEN en KEERMUREN, XVII-XVIII; alles in mergel; er zijn twee bruggen: de toegangsbrug over de gracht naar het poortgebouw en de brug die de twee eilanden binnen de gracht verbindt. De toegangsbrug heeft 6 bogen en een lage borstwering met een rollaag van afgeronde mergelblokken; bestrating van keien. De brug verkeert technisch in zeer slechte staat. De andere brug heeft geen togen, maar een onder waterniveau liggende duiker; de borstwering is ong. 50 cm. hoog en heeft een platte afdeklaag van mergel; aan voorpleinzijde op de borstwering links en rechts een liggende leeuw in mergel, XVII-XVIII. Verharding met grind. Er zijn drie stukken keermuur: een stuk van ong. 8 m. vanuit de oostpijler van het toegangshek in zuidoostelijke richting langs de gracht; het tweede stuk tussen de noordpunt van de oostgevel van het poortgebouw en de brug tussen de twee eilanden; borstwering even hoog als die van brug; het derde stuk, ook even hoog als de andere borstweringen, loopt vanaf die brug zuidelijk om het kasteeleiland en eindigt abrupt ten zuidoosten van het kasteel; verder heeft het eiland een glooiende grasoever; op het snijpunt van de keermuur en het denkbeeldige verlengde van de linden(= oprij)laan een monumentale aanlegplaats (of bruggehoofd?): twee lage ronde zuilen met cannelures, opgebouwd uit trommels; daarop een bolbekroning; de zuilen op ronde uitkragingen van de keermuur; alles in mergel; tussen de zuilen een nieuw smeedijzeren hek.

BRIDGES and RETAINING WALLS, 17th-18th century; all in marl; there are two bridges: the access bridge over the moat to the gatehouse and the bridge connecting the two islands within the moat. The access bridge has 6 arches and a low parapet with a roll course of rounded marl blocks; paving of stone slabs. The bridge is in very poor technical condition. The other bridge has no arches, but an underwater culvert; the parapet is approximately 50 cm. high and has a flat topping of marl; on the forecourt side on the parapet left and right a recumbent lion in marl, 17th-18th century. Surface with gravel. There are three sections of retaining wall: a section of approximately 8 m. from the east pier of the access gate in south-easterly direction along the moat; the second section between the northern point of the east facade of the gatehouse and the bridge between the two islands; parapet the same height as that of bridge; the third section, also the same height as the other parapets, runs from that bridge southerly around the castle island and ends abruptly to the south-east of the castle; further the island has a sloping grass bank; at the intersection of the retaining wall and the imaginary extension of the lime (= drive) avenue a monumental landing place (or bridge abutment?): two low round columns with fluting, built up from drums; topped by a bulbous capital; the columns on round projections of the retaining wall; all in marl; between the columns a new wrought-iron gate.
