KASTEEL, XVIIb;
bakstenen haakvormig gebouw op een omgracht rechthoekig terrein met twee bouwlagen op de kelderverdieping; leiengedekt schilddak; alleen de noordvleugel heeft aan het eind een topgevel; op de buitenhoek een forse vierkante uitspringende toren onder een achthoekig samengetrokken klokvormige helm met topkoepeltje met lei gedekt. Hardstenen kruis- en tussendorpelkozijnen en gewijzigde meerruitsvensters met rechthoekige omramingen in hardsteen. Ingangspoort met hardstenen omlijsting waarboven in nissen drie bolvormige bekroningen in mergel. Langs de gevels aan de courzijde liep vroeger een open galerij van de ingangspoort naar de voordeur in de noordgevel; van deze galerij resteert alleen de vloer: gebakken polychrome tegels, XIXc-d. Inwendig o.m.: grote zaal met balkenzoldering en forse natuurstenen schouw, 1628, met kariatidepilasters, leeuwconsoles en wapenschilden; kleine zaal met balkenzoldering en wandversiering in stucco, 1634, o.a. borstbeelden van Latijnse kerkvaders; enige schoorsteenmantels in late L XVI-stijl, stucversieringen en -plafonds, 1802.

Description
CASTLE, second half of the 17th century;
brick L-shaped building on a moated rectangular site with two storeys on the basement; slate-covered hipped roof; only the north wing has a stepped gable at the end; on the outer corner a substantial square protruding tower under an octagonal compressed bell-shaped helm with small slate-covered spire. Hardstone cross- and intermediate mullion windows and modified multi-light windows with rectangular surrounds in hardstone. Entrance gateway with hardstone surround above which in niches three spherical crowning pieces in marl. Along the facades on the courtyard side formerly ran an open gallery from the entrance gateway to the front door in the north facade; of this gallery only the floor remains: baked polychrome tiles, 19th century. Internally among other things: great hall with beam ceiling and substantial natural stone fireplace, 1628, with caryatid pilasters, lion consoles and coats of arms; small hall with beam ceiling and wall decoration in stucco, 1634, including busts of Latin church fathers; several fireplace mantels in late 16th-century style, stucco decorations and -ceilings, 1802.
