Omschrijving
Het TOEGANGSHEK bestaat uit twee vierkante gemetselde pijlers van rode baksteen met daartussen een smeedijzeren hek. De pijlers sluiten aan op een MUUR van rode baksteen met een ezelsrug. Aan de bovenkant worden ze afgesloten door zandstenen tuinvazen met acanthus-bladeren. Het hek bestaat uit twee draaibare vleugels met spijlen en langgerekte vierpassen, onder een open driezijdig fronton met gestileerde bladmotieven en een roosvenster. Op het fronton een kruisbloem.
Waardering
Het toegangshek met de muur is van algemeen cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang:
- als vroeg voorbeeld van een katholiek object, nl. vóór het herstel van de Bisschoppelijke hiërarchie in 1853
- vanwege de functionele en ruimtelijke relatie met de gebouwen op de begraafplaats
- als model van één van de oudste ijzergieterijen van Nederland, de firma Nering Bögel uit Deventer

The ACCESS GATE consists of two square built pillars of red brick with a wrought-iron gate between them. The pillars are connected to a WALL of red brick with a coping. At the top they are closed off with sandstone garden urns with acanthus leaves. The gate consists of two hinged panels with bars and elongated four-petaled ornaments, under an open three-sided pediment with stylised leaf motifs and a rose window. On the pediment a cross-flower.
Valuation
The access gate with the wall is of general cultural, architectural history and urban planning importance:
- as an early example of a Catholic object, namely before the restoration of the Papal hierarchy in 1853
- because of the functional and spatial relationship with the buildings on the cemetery
- as a model of one of the oldest iron foundries in the Netherlands, the firm Nering Bögel from Deventer
- because of the Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Gothic detailing
- because of its intactness
