Omschrijving
Het GRAFMONUMENT is geplaatst op een vierkant basement van beton met grind. Op de hoeken van dit basement staan hardstenen palen met spaarvelden, waartussen smeedijzeren kettingen hangen met platte ruitvormige en ronde schakels. Vóór het monument (Z) ligt een hardstenen GRAFZERK, met de inscriptie: "M.S.
Qui studiis vitam patriae sacravit amorem, Inclytus incenio veraque simplicitas; Cujus ab ore senex mirans juvenisque pependit Flumina doctrinae prodiga saepe sui; Isala quem luget; Batavum decus; omnibus idem; Consilii princeps pauberibusque pater.
C.H. Thiebout. Gymn. Rect."Het monument bestaat uit een hardstenen basement met daarop een gietijzeren Romeins altaarmodel onder een licht hellend overstekend zadeldak met frontons. Op de frontons en hoeken zijn palmetten aangebracht, langs de randen van het fronton eierlijsten, op een lijst aan de onderkant acanthusbladeren en net onder het dak gestileerde florale motieven.
Aan de voorkant (Z) het opschrift: "De stad Zwolle aan Mr J. ter Pelkwijk"Onder het opschrift zijn, eveneens in reliëf, twee palmtakken gegoten.
Aan de achterkant het opschrift: "Geboren den 26 augustus 1769 Overleden den 18 november 1834"Hier zijn onder het opschrift twee takken taxus in het monument gegoten.
Waardering
Het grafmonument is van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch belang en heeft een hoge ensemblewaarde:

The GRAVE MONUMENT is placed on a square concrete basement with gravel. On the corners of this basement stand sandstone posts with sparing fields, between which wrought iron chains hang with flat diamond-shaped and round links. In front of the monument (S) lies a sandstone GRAVE STONE, with the inscription: "M.S.

On the pediments and corners palmettes are applied, along the edges of the pediment egg mouldings, on a list at the bottom acanthus leaves and just below the roof stylised floral motifs.
On the front (S) the inscription: "The city of Zwolle to Mr J. ter Pelkwijk"Below the inscription are, also in relief, two palm fronds cast.
On the back the inscription: "Born on 26 August 1769 Died on 18 November 1834"Here below the inscription two yew branches are cast into the monument.
