Inleiding
Het raadhuis van de gemeente Maarn is in 1925 in traditionele stijl ontworpen door J. Pothoven. Naar aanleiding van dit ontwerp werd vier jaar later door H.A. Pothoven een bijna identiek raadhuis gebouwd te Wolphaartsdijk (Gemeente Goes). In 1963 en 1979 is het raadhuis met nieuwe vleugels uitgebreid. Deze vallen buiten de bescherming.
Omschrijving
Het aan het raadhuisplein gelegen RAADHUIS is op een rechthoekige plattegrond opgetrokken en telt boven een boven souterrain één bouwlaag onder een met rode verbeterde Hollandse pannen gedekt schilddak met uitzwenkende dakschilden. Het dak wordt bekroond met een dakruiter met uivormige spits, terwijl op de hoeken schoorstenen staan. Het dakschild aan de voorzijde wordt aan de voorzijde doorbroken door dakkapellen onder schilddakjes. Alle vensters zijn voorzien van een roedenverdeling of glas-in-lood. De hanekam-strekken hebben natuurstenen aanzet- en sluitstenen. De luiken zijn beschilderd met een zandlopermotief.
De voorgevel of noordgevel is symmetrisch van opzet met in het midden boven een bordes met natuurstenen trapleuning een risaliet die de ingangspartij bevat. Deze bestaat uit een getoogde houten paneeldeur in een natuurstenen omlijsting. Ter weerszijden bevindt zich een smal tweedelig venster. Boven de ingang bevindt zich het wapen van de gemeente Maarn in natuursteen. Het risaliet wordt bekroond door een topgevel met steekkap. In het fronton is een liggend oeil-de-boeuf geplaatst met roedenverdeling. Ter weerszijden van het risaliet zijn in de gevel een tweetal kruisvensters met roeden en bovenlichten en halve paneelluiken gezet. Het souterrain bevat in het bordes een tweelichtsvenster met luiken, evenals het linker- en rechter geveldeel. In de voorgevel bevindt zich een gedenksteen met de tekst: 'Op 17 september 1925 werd in dit raadhuis deze gedenksteen geplaatst door burgemeester Everwijn Lange'.
De rechterzijgevel bevat ter hoogte van het souterrain een tweelichtsvenster en een getoogde deur. Erboven bevinden zich twee kruiskozijnen.

Description
The TOWN HALL located on the raadhuisplein is constructed on a rectangular floor plan and comprises above a basement storey one storey under a hipped roof covered with red improved Dutch tiles with protruding roof slopes. The roof is crowned with a roof turret with owl-shaped spire, while chimneys stand at the corners. The roof slope at the front is broken at the front by roof dormers under hipped roofs. All windows are provided with glazing bars or leaded lights. The bargeboard courses have natural stone setting and closing stones. The shutters are painted with an hourglass motif.
The front facade or north facade is symmetrical in layout with in the centre above a step with natural stone stair railing a risalit which contains the entrance section. This consists of a arched wooden panelled door in a natural stone surround. On either side is a narrow two-part window. Above the entrance is the coat of arms of the municipality of Maarn in natural stone. The risalit is crowned by a gable end with a saddle roof. In the pediment is a horizontal oeil-de-boeuf with glazing bars. On either side of the risalit are in the facade a pair of cross windows with glazing bars and fanlights and half panelled shutters set. The basement storey contains in the step a two-part window with shutters, as does the left and right facade section. In the front facade is a memorial stone with the text: 'On 17 September 1925 this memorial stone was placed in this town hall by mayor Everwijn Lange'.
