HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats Hofwijck. Deels in structuur bewaarde classicistische aanleg uit de tweede kwart van de zeventiende eeuw naar de ideeën van Constantijn Huygens. De aanleg van de buitenplaats is geproportioneerd naar de verhoudingen van het menselijk lichaam en gebaseerd op wiskundige beginselen. De grondvorm van de aanleg wordt bepaald door rechthoeken en vierkanten waar het huis als onderdeel in is opgenomen. De zeventiende-eeuwse structuur van de aanleg wordt bepaald door de loodrecht op het huis staande as thans gevormd door een brede waterloop en een vierkant voorplein, de omgrachting van het huis met aan weerskanten een eiland.

HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country estate Hofwijck. Partially preserved in structure classicist layout from the second quarter of the seventeenth century according to the ideas of Constantijn Huygens. The design of the country estate is proportioned according to the proportions of the human body and based on mathematical principles. The ground form of the layout is determined by rectangles and squares within which the house is incorporated as a component. The seventeenth-century structure of the layout is determined by the axis perpendicular to the house now formed by a broad waterway and a square forecourt, the moat-enclosure of the house with an island on either side.
