Omschrijving
OPGANG MET BRUG EN KEERMUUR. Tussen het omgrachte huis en het voorplein een achttiende-eeuws bakstenen verbindingselement (opgang) van drie maal drie treden die voor het huis eindigt en overgaat in een brug bestaande uit een loopplank met aan weerskanten een balustrade. De opgang is taludvormig en bestaat uit een lage bakstenen keermuur en een hoger opgetrokken bruggedeelte met in de zijkanten drie Y-vormige muurankers. De keermuur loopt door langs de voorzijde van het voorplein. Aan weerszijden van de opgang een bakstenen balustrade, die versierd is met vier hardstenen beelden van kinderfiguren. Deze putti stellen de vier jaargetijden voor. De beelden zijn bij de restauratie van 1954-'55 door Dirk Bus vervaardigd. De opgang is ontworpen door Constantijn Huygens, deze werd geïnspireerd door de Rialto-brug in Venetië.

STAIRCASE WITH BRIDGE AND RETAINING WALL. Between the moat-enclosed house and the forecourt an eighteenth-century brick connecting element (staircase) of three by three steps which ends in front of the house and transitions into a bridge consisting of a walkway with a balustrade on either side. The staircase is tapered in form and consists of a low brick retaining wall and a higher raised bridge section with three Y-shaped wall anchors in the sides. The retaining wall runs along the front of the forecourt. On either side of the staircase a brick balustrade, which is decorated with four hard stone figures of child figures. These putti represent the four seasons. The figures were made by Dirk Bus during the 1954-'55 restoration. The staircase was designed by Constantijn Huygens, who was inspired by the Rialto Bridge in Venice.
