Inleiding
Het BANKGEBOUW op de hoek van De Waag en de Wierdensestraat werd in 1908 gebouwd voor de firma Ledeboer bankiers naar ontwerp van de architect G. Beltman. Het gebouw werd, zoals in die periode niet ongebruikelijk was, ontworpen als ware het een vrijstaand stadswoonhuis van een laat zeventiende eeuwse Hollandse koopman. De verwijzing naar de zakelijk succesvolle periode uit de vaderlandse geschiedenis, alsmede naar de belangrijke rol die de particulier in die tijd had bij de opsmuk van de stad, komt vooral tot uitdrukking in de keuze van de stijl van het late, wat sobere Hollands klassicisme. Het interieur is ingrijpend verbouwd en voor de bescherming niet van belang.
Omschrijving
Het onderkelderde kantoor heeft twee bouwlagen onder een afgeknot schilddak, waarop in de vier hoeken schoorstenen staan. De hoofdgevel (N) aan de Wierdensestraat heeft 9 venster-assen, waarvan 5 in een middenrisaliet met driehoekig fronton (met oculus). De zijgevel (zonder ingang) aan De Waag (O) heeft 6 vensterassen, waarvan 2 in een middenrisaliet met segmentvormig fronton (met een reliëf in natuursteen). De westelijke zijgevel met 3 vensterassen (waarvan één met een ingang, bekroond met een oeil-de-boeuf) grenst aan het voorplein van het gebouw van de rechtbank. Het bouwvolume is geplaatst op een hoge sokkel (waarin de keldervensters), die van de etage is gescheiden door een dunne cordonlijst. In deze lijst zijn de onderdorpels van de hoofdverdieping opgenomen.
De vensters van de bel-etage zijn hoger dan die van de verdieping, maar alle zijn uitgevoerd als schuifvensters met roedenverdeling. Een hoofdgestel bestaande uit architraaf, fries en een kroonlijst die is uitgevoerd als tandlijst beëindigt de gevelvlakken.
De middenrisaliet van de voorgevel bevat de hoofdingang met natuurstenen kozijn, waarboven een gevelsteen. Het middelste venster op de etage heeft hier een versierde lijst met voluten en een kuif, alle in natuursteen. In de risaliet aan De Waag zijn de vensters voorzien van vlakke natuurstenen omlijstingen, die op de verdieping bovendien aan de onderdorpel voorkomen.
Aan de achterzijde (Z, ingebouwd) is het pand enigermate verbouwd.

The BANK BUILDING on the corner of De Waag and the Wierdensestraat was built in 1908 for the firm Ledeboer bankiers according to a design by architect G. Beltman. Description
The cellared office has two storeys under a truncated hipped roof, on which chimneys stand at the four corners. The main facade (N) on the Wierdensestraat has 9 window bays, of which 5 in a central projecting section with triangular pediment (with oculus). The side facade (without entrance) on De Waag (E) has 6 window bays, of which 2 in a central projecting section with segmental pediment (with a relief in natural stone). The western side facade with 3 window bays (of which one with an entrance, crowned with an oeil-de-boeuf) borders the forecourt of the courthouse building. The building volume is placed on a high plinth (in which the cellar windows), which is separated from the first floor by a thin string course. The sills of the main floor are incorporated in this moulding.
The windows of the bel-etage are taller than those of the first floor, but all are executed as sash windows with glazing bars. A main entablature consisting of architrave, frieze and a cornice which is executed as a dentil moulding terminates the facade planes.
The central projecting section of the front facade contains the main entrance with natural stone frame, above which a gevel stone. The middle window on the first floor here has a decorated moulding with volutes and a cornice, all in natural stone. In the projecting section on De Waag the windows are provided with flat natural stone frames, which on the first floor moreover occur at the sill.
At the rear (S, built-in) the property has been somewhat remodelled.
