Inleiding:
Met elementen van Neo-Gotiek in 1864 in opdracht van de familie De Guasco gebouwde GRAFKELDER.
De iets lager gelegen kelder vormt een van de vier grafkelders op het kerkhof tegen de helling van de Cauberg in Valkenburg aan de Geul.
Omschrijving:
Symmetrische indeling frontgevel. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is mergel en hardsteen. Middendeel uitlopend in een topgevelachtig fronton met hierin een blinde nis met de tekst" Begraafplaats van de familie De Guasco 1864", en afgedekt met hardsteen. Spitsboogvormige toegang met decoratief smeedijzeren hekwerk. Aan de linker- en rechterzijde van de toegang spitsboogvormige blinde nissen met hardstenen ornamenten.
Van het INTERIEUR zijn onder meer van belang: de vloer met hardstenen plavuizen; in de zijwanden spitsboogvormige grafnissen afgedekt met grafstenen; plafond met kruisribgewelven op decoratieve mergel consoles; voor de achterwand een altaar in mergel met in een spitsboogvormige nis een afbeelding van Christus en bekroond met een kruis.
Waardering:
De grafkelder van de familie de Guasco is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. De grafkelder bezit architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege het belang voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur, de toepassing van mergel als bouwmateriaal en de ornamentiek.
Ensemblewaarde ontleent de grafkelder aan de situering in de gravenwand op het kerkhof tegen de helling van de Cauberg en daarmee van betekenis voor het aanzien van dit deel van Valkenburg aan de Geul. Pointed arch-shaped entrance with decorative wrought-iron railing. On the left and right side of the entrance pointed arch-shaped blind niches with hardstone ornaments.
Of the INTERIOR the following are of particular importance: the floor with hardstone flagstones; in the side walls pointed arch-shaped burial niches topped with grave stones; ceiling with cross-ribbed vault on decorative marl corbels; in front of the rear wall an altar in marl with in a pointed arch-shaped niche an image of Christ and crowned with a cross.
