Inleiding:
In Neo-Gothische stijl in 1892 naar een ontwerp van Dr. P.J.H. Cuypers in opdracht van de familie H. Habets-Willems gebouwde GRAFKAPEL.
De grafkapel bevindt zich op het kerkhof tegen de helling van Cauberg, in de onmiddellijke nabijheid van de gravenwand op dit kerkhof, en is iets verhoogd gelegen. De ingangspartij tot de grafkelder onder de kapel bevindt zich in het rechter gedeelte van de gravenwand.
Omschrijving:
De vrijstaande achtzijdige grafkapel telt een bouwlaag en wordt afgedekt met zadeldakjes met leien in Maasdekking en bekroont met een lantaarn met een spits dakje. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is mergel. Smalle spitsboogvormige glas-in-lood vensters, rechthoekige toegang met decoratieve afwerking aan de bovenzijde.
Frontgevel met deur in een klein portiek met hierboven een spitsboogvormige nis. Geveldelen uitlopend in topgeveltjes met hierin een driepasdecoratie en zinken waterspuwers.
Rond de grafkapel bevindt zich een smeedijzeren hekwerk met toegangspoortje, op een gecementeerd bakstenen muurtje.
De ingangspartij tot de grafkelder onder de kapel is vastgebouwd aan de gravenwand en bestaat uit een geveldeel in mergel uitlopend in een frontonachtige topgevel met hierin een vierpasnis met hierin het jaartal 1892. Hieronder in een omlijsting de tekst Familiegraf H. Habets Willems. De toegang wordt afgesloten met een smeedijzeren hekwerk. De bovenzijde van de toegang heeft een identieke afwerking als de toegang tot de grafkapel.
Waardering:
De grafkapel is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. De grafkapel bezit architectuurhistorische waarde wegens de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp, het bijzondere materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek.
Ensemblewaarde ontleent de grafkapel aan de situering op het kerkhof tegen de helling van de Cauberg en daarmee van bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van Valkenburg aan de Geul. De grafkapel is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de architectuurhistorische en typologische zeldzaamheid.

A FUNERAL CHAPEL built in Neo-Gothic style in 1892 after a design by Dr. P.J.H. Cuypers commissioned by the family H. Habets-Willems.
The funeral chapel is situated on the churchyard against the slope of Cauberg, in the immediate vicinity of the grave wall at this churchyard, and is positioned slightly elevated. The entrance to the burial vault below the chapel is located in the right section of the grave wall.
Description:
The freestanding octagonal funeral chapel comprises one storey and is topped with small gabled roofs with slates in Maas covering and crowned with a lantern with a pointed roof. The building material used is marl. Narrow pointed arch-shaped leaded glass windows, rectangular entrance with decorative finish at the top.
Front facade with door in a small portico with above it a pointed arch-shaped niche. Facade sections ending in small top gables with therein a trefoil decoration and zinc water spouts.
Round the funeral chapel is a wrought-iron railing with access gate, on a cemented brick wall.
The entrance to the burial vault below the chapel is built against the grave wall and consists of a facade section in marl ending in a pediment-like top gable with therein a quatrefoil niche containing the year 1892. Below it in a surround the text Familiegraf H. Habets Willems. The entrance is closed with a wrought-iron railing. The top of the entrance has identical finish as the entrance to the funeral chapel.
