Inleiding
De ARBEIDERSWONING aan de Nutstraat 8 is de laatste van de naar het zuid-oosten georiënteerde rij woningen in de straat, die beschreven is onder Nutstraat 10 t/m 16 en 5 t/m 13 en deel uitmaakt van het arbeiderswoningcomplex gebouwd in Ambachtelijk-traditionele stijl tussen 1909 en 1911 in het Havengebied. De woning verschilt qua plattegrond van de overige en wordt aangeduid met type E. Voor de algemene historische gegevens wordt verwezen naar de complexomschrijving behorende bij Harlingen, Nieuweweg/Caspar di Roblesstraat/Nutstraat/Havenweg en de omschrijving behorende bij Harlingen, Nutstraat 10 t/m 16 en 5 t/m 13. De hoekwoning is naar het zuidoosten georiënteerd en is aan de achterkant voorzien van een tuin. Langs de gevels aan de straatzijde ligt een smalle stoep.
Omschrijving
Deze hoekwoning heeft een trapezoïdale plattegrond, waarvan de langste zijde aan de Nutstraat ligt. De arbeiderswoning is één bouwlaag hoog en wordt gedekt door een samengesteld schildak met zadeldak en zwarte gegolfde Friese pannen. Op het dak staan twee schoorstenen. De dakhelling wordt op de hoekzijde onderbroken door een gemetselde dakkapel met halfronde afsluiting. Deze is later aangebracht. De gevels zijn in bruine bakstenen opgetrokken; voor de decoratieve gevelbanden tussen de vensters en de decoratie van de strekken zijn gele bakstenen gebruikt. De gevel aan de Nutstraat wordt in gelijke vlakken verdeeld door, van links naar rechts: twee zesruitsvensters met gebogen strekken; de (vernieuwde) houten voordeur met bakstenen trede en tweelicht bovenlicht met gebogen strek; een dubbel venster met gebogen strek. De oorspronkelijke ruitenverdeling van dit laatste venster is door een enkele ruit vervangen. In de smalle hoekgevel zit een (oorspronkelijk zesruits-) venster met gebogen strek en enkelruits bovenlicht. In de gemetselde dakkapel op de hoek, van latere datum, zit een T-venster met rollaag. In de gevel aan de Dwarstraat een zesruitsvenster met gebogen strek. In de achtergevel zitten drie vensters. De rest van de zijgevel grenst aan Nutstraat nummer 10.
Waardering
De arbeiderswoning aan de Nutstraat 8, gebouwd in 1909 in een traditionele bouwstijl binnen het complex arbeiderswoningen in het Havengebied, is van bijzonder cultuurhistorisch belang:

The WORKERS' HOUSING at Nutstraat 8 is the last of the row of dwellings oriented towards the south-east in the street, which is described under Nutstraat 10 to 16 and 5 to 13 and forms part of the workers' housing complex built in Craftsman-traditional style between 1909 and 1911 in the Harbour Area. The dwelling differs in floor plan from the others and is designated as type E. Description
This corner dwelling has a trapezoidal floor plan, of which the longest side is on the Nutstraat. The workers' dwelling is one storey high and is covered by a composite hipped roof with gabled roof and black corrugated Frisian tiles. On the roof stand two chimneys. The roof slope is interrupted on the corner side by a brick roof dormer with semi-circular closure. This was added later. The facades are constructed of brown brickwork; yellow bricks are used for the decorative facade bands between the windows and the decoration of the lintels. The facade on Nutstraat is divided into equal planes by, from left to right: two six-light windows with curved lintels; the (renewed) wooden front door with brick step and two-light fanlight with curved lintel; a double window with curved lintel. The original glazing pattern of this latter window has been replaced by a single pane. In the narrow corner facade is a (originally six-light) window with curved lintel and single-light fanlight. In the brick roof dormer on the corner, of later date, is a T-window with roll moulding. In the facade on Dwarstraat is a six-light window with curved lintel. In the rear facade are three windows. The rest of the side facade borders on Nutstraat number 10.

The workers' dwelling at Nutstraat 8, built in 1909 in a traditional building style within the complex of workers' housing in the Harbour Area, is of particular cultural-historical importance:
