Omschrijving

Description
Introduction
COACH HOUSE with COACHMEN'S DWELLINGS in eclectic style, 1880, situated on the north side of the country house Petite Suisse. Built on commission of the Regout family, after a design by architect Wilhelm Wickop, renovated in 1994. The attached stable on the north side is excluded from protection.
Description
Coach house with coachmen's dwellings on a U-shaped floor plan, situated in transverse direction to the driveway of the estate. One storey plus attic storey under flattened mansard roof. Slates in shingle coverage on the roof slopes, bitumen on the flat roof sections. Box gutters. Roof dormer above the carriage entrance with round-arched pediment, ornamental corner pieces and cross window. The remaining roof sections are provided with roof dormers with vertically glazed windows. During the 1994 renovation the triangular pediments of these roof dormers were removed, as were the high-rising chimneys. The gabled roof of the eastern rear extension is covered with zinc.
The building has a profiled, blackened tar plinth, a rendered brickwork facade in flemish bond with cut mortar joints. Cornice with built-up consoles, double dentil ornament. Profiled window surrounds and corner strips, alternating in brick and hardstone.
Hardstone sills.
Symmetrically designed, but irregularly subdivided front facade, in which a central risalit with segmental-arched double wooden carriage entrance, provided with vertically glazed fanlight and impost and voussoir stones in the gate opening. Cast-iron protective pieces for the gate posts. Two gate-side lights, consisting of tall, narrow rectangular wooden cross windows with six-pane glazing bars. On the left side of the gate risalit a blind window surround with chimney base plus a rectangular wooden cross window with six-pane glazing bars. On the right side a rectangular wooden cross window with six-pane glazing bars.
Irregularly subdivided west facade, in which three rectangular wooden cross windows with six-pane glazing bars a rectangular wooden residential door with fanlight. Three roof dormers evenly distributed over the roof slope.
The rear facade of the coach house is likewise irregularly subdivided: three rectangular wooden cross windows with six-pane glazing bars, between which a rectangular wooden door with fanlight. Centrally in the roof slope an attic hatch and a roof dormer. Recent attic windows. On either side of the rear facade corner risalits, in which on the courtyard side a rectangular wooden door with fanlight. Perpendicular to the eastern risalit an extended stabling of one storey under gabled roof, against which a second stabling is built. This second stabling is excluded from protection.
The eastern side facade is in its layout identical to the west and rear facades. In the facades of the extension a bricked-up basket-arched opening has been made, in which a rectangular wooden entrance door with fanlight.
In the coach house plastered brick vaults on steel I-beams, supported by iron cross-beams. The layout of the coach house is partially intact, but the interior contains no protected components.
Valuation
The coach house of Petite Suisse is of cultural-historical value as a remarkable expression of a typological development.
The architectural-historical values are determined by the building style, the involvement of architect Wickop, the aesthetic quality of his design, the use of materials and the ornamentation.
The coach house is a very important component of the country estate Petite Suisse, of special significance for the character of the region and has a historical-spatial relationship with the country house and garden layout.
The coach house possesses reasonable architectural integrity and is of great importance for the structural and visual integrity of the Petite Suisse country house complex.
Moreover, the coach house possesses, in a regional perspective, a high degree of functional and architectural-historical rarity.
