Inleiding
Eclectisch LANDHUIS Kruisdonk, XIXB, gesitueerd in een historische parkaanleg in landschapsstijl. Het pand bevindt zich in dwarsrichting ten opzichte van de gelijknamige weg aan de zuidzijde. Het landhuis werd gebouwd in opdracht van de familie Regout, op de locatie van de voormalige Kruismolen van de Proosdij Meerssen. Het landhuis werd omstreeks 1900 verbouwd en bij die gelegenheid omgedoopt tot Kruisdonk.
In 1992-1993 volledig gerenoveerd. Het geheel wordt begrensd door de spoorlijn Maastricht-Heerlen, de autosnelweg A2, de Oude Rijksweg en Kruisdonk.
Omschrijving
Eclectisch landhuis op in hoofdvorm rechthoekige plattegrond, met uitbouwen aan elke gevelzijde. Samengesteld bouwvolume met respectievelijk twee en tweeëneenhalve bouwlaag op souterrainverdieping en zolder. De verschillende bouwvolumes worden gedekt door een schilddak, lessenaarsdaken, platte daken. Torenspits met uietoren, toren met verhoogde nok en bolvormige lantaarn. Leien in Maasdakking, bitumen op de platte dakdelen. Enkele recente dakvensters aan de oostzijde.
Bakgoten met klossen en decoratieve hoekconsoles. Elegante schoorstenen met afdekking.
Het landhuis heeft een hardstenen plint met souterrain-vensters, is opgetrokken in geel gesausde mergel en voorzien van hardstenen dorpels en lateien.
De voorgevel van het landhuis bevindt zich aan de zuidwestzijde en is georiënteerd is op een thans ongebruikte oprijlaan met hekpijlers. Deze gevel is asymmetrisch ingedeeld, telt zeven vensterassen en een rechts van het gevelmidden geplaatst terras met balkon. Het terras is van binnenuit toegankelijk via een dubbele houten deur met Louvreblinden en tienruits bovenlicht. Hierboven een balkon op twee kolommen, die doorlopen in het balkon en bekroond zijn met decoratieve vazen. Zowel het terras als het balkon is voorzien van een decoratieve smeedijzeren balustrade. Op het terras een centraal geplaatste, dragende gietijzeren pijler, met aan weerszijden geornamenteerde, segmentboogvormige smeedijzeren zwikken onder de balkonluifel. Rechthoekige houten T-vensters met tienruits bovenlichten en Louvre-blinden. Rechthoekige, tweevoudig verticaal gelede houten mezzaninovensters met twaalfruits roedeverdeling.De noordgevel wordt gedomineerd door een aanzienlijk risalerend volume met vier vensterassen, dat ter hoogte van de bakgoot overgaat in een achthoekige toren, waarvan de luifelgoot rust op een hardstenen kroonlijst met Dorische kapitelen en de spits is voorzien van een bolvormige lantaarn met smeedijzeren windvaan. Rechts van deze toren dubbele terrasdeuren in hardstenen lijst, met zijlichten en Louvre-blinden, een terras met natuurstenen hekpijlers en smeedijzeren balustrade. Daarboven twee vensterassen met echthoekige, tweevoudig verticaal gelede houten mezzaninovensters met twaalfruits roedeverdeling en rechthoekige houten T-vensters met tienruits bovenlichten en Louvre-blinden. Links van de toren, in het verlaagde bouwvolume, één vensteras met rechthoekige houten T-vensters met tienruits bovenlichten en Louvre-blinden.
De oostgevel kenmerkt zich door in 1992-93 vernieuwde en gedichte serre, waarvan de smeedijzerconstructie en de decoratieve tegelvloer bewaard zijn gebleven. Deze serre is gebouwd rond een in de tweede vensteras geplaatste risalerende driezijdige toren. Deze is voorzien van drie rechthoekige houten T-vensters met tienruits bovenlichten en Louvre-blinden, plus één tweevoudig verticaal geleed mezzaninovenster met twaalfruits roedeverdeling. De toren is boven de bakgoot voorzien van een reeks vensters tussen met Dorische kapitelen bekroonde muurdammen. De toren heeft een flauw hellende spits, een aanzienlijke lantaarn met galmgaten, bolornament en naald. Dit oostelijke bouwvolume, bestaande uit twee bouwlagen onder plat, telt verder vijf vensterassen met identiek ingedeelde T-vensters en Louvre-luiken.
De zuidgevel tenslotte telt vier, respectievelijke drie vensterassen waarin een rechts van het midden geplaatste entreepartij met giet- en smeedijzeren luifel onder een zinken dakje. Hieronder een rechthoekige dubbele houten toegangsdeur met twaalfruits bovenlichten en Louvre-blinden. Rechthoekige houten T-vensters met tienruits bovenlichten en Louvre-blinden. Drie rechthoekige, tweevoudig verticaal gelede houten mezzaninovensters met twaalfruits roedeverdeling.
Voormalige hoofdentree met twee geornamenteerde hardstenen hekpijlers aan de zuidwestzijde, waartussen een dubbel scharnierend smeedijzeren hekwerk. De huidige hoofdtoegang bestaat uit bakstenen hekpijlers met mergel speklagen en vaasbekroning, waartussen zich een recent hekwerk bevindt.
De interieurindeling van het landhuis bevindt zich in authentieke staat. Het interieur is zeer rijk, uitgevoerd in empirestijl en volledig beschermenswaardig.
Waardering
Het landhuis Kruisdonk is van cultuurhistorische waarde als een zeer bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling.
De architectuurhistorische waarden zijn zeer groot en worden bepaald door de bouwstijl, de zeer hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten, het streekeigen materiaalgebruik en de ornamentiek.
Kruisdonk is onderdeel van een landelijke gebied met landgoederen dat architectuurhistorisch en cultuurhistorisch van belang is. Eclectic country house on a principally rectangular plan, with extensions on each facade side. Composite building volume with respectively two and two-and-a-half storeys on basement level and attic. The north facade is dominated by a considerable projecting volume with four window bays, which at gutter level transforms into an octagonal tower, from which the eaves gutter rests on a hardstone cornice with Doric capitals and the spire is provided with a spherical lantern with wrought-iron weather vane. To the right of this tower double terrace doors in hardstone frame, with side lights and Louvre blinds, a terrace with natural stone gate posts and wrought-iron balustrade. The east facade is characterised by a conservatory renewed and closed up in 1992-93, of which the wrought-iron construction and the decorative tile floor have been preserved. This conservatory is built around a risalite three-sided tower placed in the second window bay. This is provided with three rectangular wooden T-windows with ten-pane fanlights and Louvre blinds, plus one twice vertically divided mezzanine window with twelve-pane glazing bars. The tower above the gutter is provided with a series of windows between wall sections crowned with Doric capitals. The tower has a gently sloping spire, a considerable lantern with louvred openings, spherical ornament and spire. This eastern building volume, consisting of two storeys under flat roof, further has five window bays with identically arranged T-windows and Louvre shutters.
