Inleiding
GRAFMONUMENT van Frederik Becks, socialistisch gemeenteraadslid, 1931, vervaardigd door beeldhouwer L. Pieters. Gesitueerd op het ongewijde, socialistische deel van de begraafplaats aan de Tongerseweg.
Omschrijving
Hardstenen grafmonument, gedeeltelijk gepolychromeerd en verguld.
Reliëfdecoratie op de penanten: links een bloemenrank bekroond met een vuurtoorts. Op de penanten rust een rechthoekige dekplaat met in reliëf de zon van het morgenrood. Inscriptie: "Hier rust Frederik Becks lid van den Gemeentenraad geb. 15-7-1864 overl. 27-4-1931 echtgenoot van Anna Craft geb. 30-8-1860 overl. 28-10-1936 zijn leven en werken was gewijd aan recht en waarheid belichaamd in het socialisme".

Het grafmonument van Frederik Becks is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele, sociale, geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. Stone grave monument, partially polychromed and gilded.
Relief decoration on the pilasters: on the left a flower garland crowned with a torch. On the pilasters rests a rectangular top slab with in relief the sun of the dawn. Inscription: "Here rests Frederik Becks member of the City Council born 15-7-1864 died 27-4-1931 husband of Anna Craft born 30-8-1860 died 28-10-1936 his life and work was devoted to justice and truth embodied in socialism".
