GRAFMONUMENT van Hubertus Johannes Beckers, de Maastrichtse arbeider die tijdens de Zinkwitstaking in 1929 door marechausseekogels werd gedood.
Gesitueerd op het ongewijde, socialistische deel van de begraafplaats aan de Tongerseweg.
Omschrijving
Kalkstenen gedenkteken bekroond door een reliëf van een fakkeldrager in realistische stijl. Het opschrift op de sokkel luidt: "Hubertus Johannes Beckers 1897 x 1929 IN DEN STRYD GEVALLEN".
Waardering
Het grafmonument van Beckers is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een culturele, sociale, geestelijke en typologische ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door de stijl, de esthetische kwaliteiten en het materiaalgebruik. Het graf Beckers is een zeer belangrijk onderdeel van de begraafplaats aan de Tongerseweg en heeft als zodanig een historisch ruimtelijke relatie met de aanleg van de begraafplaats. Limestone memorial crowned by a relief of a torchbearer in realistic style. The inscription on the plinth reads: "Hubertus Johannes Beckers 1897 x 1929 FALLEN IN THE STRUGGLE".

The grave monument of Beckers is of cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a cultural, social, spiritual and typological development. The architectural-historical values are determined by the style, aesthetic qualities and use of materials.
