Omschrijving dubbel woonhuis Essenlaan 77-79.
Inleiding:
Vrijstaand DUBBEL WOONHUIS aan de Essenlaan 77-79. In 1936 gebouwd in de stijl van het Nieuwe Bouwen naar ontwerp van W. van Tijen.
Omschrijving:
Dubbel woonhuis bestaande uit drie bouwlagen opgetrokken in wit geschilderde baksteen, onder geknikt mastiek dak met overstek, met gebruik van draadglas, beton en staal voor balkons, kozijnen en deuren.
De hoofdzakelijk horizontaal gelede voorgevel aan de Essenlaan is strikt symmetrisch opgebouwd. De scheiding tussen beide woonhelften wordt aangegeven door een in het midden lopende regenpijp en balkonscheiding. Op de begane grond wordt de gevel in het midden onderbroken door een dubbele rechthoekige erker met houten zesledige kozijnen, geflankeerd door twee vrijwel vierkante vensters met een stalen roedenverdeling.
De eerste verdieping wordt aan de uiteinden gemarkeerd door twee uitstekende balkons (beton en draadglaswering). Hiertussen bevinden zich twee stalen strokenvensters. De tweede verdieping ligt iets terug waardoor ruimte ontstaat voor een over de gehele voorgevel doorlopend balkon, wederom met een draadglaswering en dito scheidingswandje. Hierachter bevat de gevel twee brede, lage vensters tussen dubbele balkondeuren.
De zijgevels zijn voorzien van halfronde glazen puien ten behoeve van het trappehuis met spiltrap.
De langgerekte vensterpartijen zijn door stalen roeden in verticale banen onderverdeeld.
In de zijgevels aan weerszijden van het trappehuis aan de bovenzijde van de verdiepingen bevinden zich kleine vierkante raampjes.
De respektievelijke ingangen bevinden zich in de zijgevels aan de voorzijde onder een gebogen luifel in een afwijkend geel gemetseld muurvlak. Aan de achterzijde bevindt zich eveneens in een geel muurvlak een keukendeur met raam onder een schuine draadglasluifel.
De achtergevel heeft op de begane grond, aan weerszijden van een stalen scheidingswand, een dubbele serredeur uitkomend op een terras, geflankeerd door ramen.
De verdieping is sober geleed door een strook liggende rechthoekige vensters waarboven alleen rechts nog de oorspronkelijke schuine draadglas luifels aanwezig zijn.
Onder de iets uitkragende daklijst bevindt zich een strook lage rechthoekige vensters.

Description:
Double dwelling consisting of three storeys constructed in white painted brick, under a pitched mastic roof with overhang, using wired glass, concrete and steel for balconies, frames and doors.
The front facade along the Essenlaan, articulated principally horizontally, is strictly symmetrically composed. The division between the two dwelling halves is indicated by a rainwater pipe running down the middle and balcony division. On the ground floor the facade is interrupted in the middle by a double rectangular bay window with wooden six-part frames, flanked by two virtually square windows with steel glazing bars.
The first storey is marked at the ends by two projecting balconies (concrete and wired glass screening). Between these are two steel strip windows. The second storey is set back slightly, creating space for a balcony running across the full width of the front facade, again with wired glass screening and matching dividing panel. Behind this the facade contains two wide, low windows between double balcony doors.
The side facades are provided with semi-circular glazed facades serving the staircase with helical stairs.
The elongated window sections are subdivided by steel bars into vertical bays.
In the side facades on both sides of the staircase at the top of the storeys are small square windows.
The respective entrances are located in the side facades at the front under a curved canopy in a differently coloured yellow brick wall surface. At the rear there is also in a yellow wall surface a kitchen door with window under an angled wired glass canopy.

Beneath the slightly projecting roof edge is a band of low rectangular windows.
