Omschrijving woonhuis "Het oude slot".
Inleiding:
Half vrijstaande VILLA achter een ijzeren sierhek, gebouwd circa 1880 in Eclectische trant, georiënteerd op de grote vijver aan de overzijde van de Slotlaan. De villa draagt de naam 'Het oude slot', verwijzend naar het dertiende-eeuwse slot Honingen dat vlakbij heeft gestaan.
Omschrijving:
De villa is gebouwd op een rechthoekige plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen onder een zadeldak, terwijl op de achterste helft van het pand een derde bouwlaag is aangebracht met een plat dak en aan de achterzijde van de villa een steil lessenaarsdak.
Opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een natuurstenen plint. Ook natuurstenen traptreden voor de voordeur, waterdorpels overgaand in een cordonband en hoeklisenen. De zijgevel is wit gepleisterd en wordt onderbroken door enkele rechthoekige vensters, waarvan sommige met glas-in-lood bovenlichten.
De voorgevel, vijf vensterassen breed, heeft op de begane grond een houten voordeur omlijst door pilasters en een bovenlicht met glas-in-lood voorstelling van het voormalige slot Honingen. Aan weerszijden twee ijzeren muurankers en twee rechthoekige vensters met glas-in-lood bovenlichten. Boven de vensters en deur bakstenen rollagen met gedecoreerde en beschilderde sluitstenen in de vorm van jongenskopjes.
Op de eerste verdieping boven de voordeur een balkon op natuurstenen consoles, met dubbele deur en ijzeren balustrade. Aan weerszijden van het balkon een tweeledig rechthoekig venster en daarnaast dubbele deuren achter een Frans balkon met ijzeren balustrade. Boven de vensters en deuren glas-in-lood bovenlichten en rollagen met gedecoreerde en beschilderde sluitstenen in de vorm van druiventrossen.
De hoeklisenen dragen een architraaf, waarop de naam van het huis 'Het oude slot' staat, en een fronton over de gehele breedte van de gevel. Het timpaan is gedeeltelijk wit gepleisterd met centraal hierin een grote ronde klok. Op de geveltop een voluutvormige decoratie.
Waardering:
Eclectische villa prominent gelegen aan de grote vijver, in naam en decoratie verwijzend naar het voormalige slot Honingen van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische, stedebouwkundige en cultuurhistorische waarde.

Semi-detached VILLA behind an ornamental iron fence, built circa 1880 in Eclectic style, oriented towards the large pond on the opposite side of the Slotlaan. The villa bears the name 'Het oude slot', referring to the thirteenth-century castle Honingen which stood nearby.
Description:
The villa is built on a rectangular plan and comprises two storeys beneath a gabled roof, while on the rear half of the building a third storey is incorporated with a flat roof and at the rear of the villa a steep lean-to roof.
Constructed in red brick on a natural stone plinth. Also natural stone steps before the front door, water sills merging into a stringcourse and corner pilasters. The side facade is white plastered and is interrupted by several rectangular windows, some with glass-in-lead fanlights.
The front facade, five window bays wide, has on the ground floor a wooden front door framed by pilasters and a fanlight with glass-in-lead representation of the former castle Honingen. On either side two iron wall anchors and two rectangular windows with glass-in-lead fanlights. Above the windows and door brick arched courses with decorated and painted voussoirs in the form of boys' heads.
On the first floor above the front door a balcony on natural stone consoles, with double door and iron balustrade. On either side of the balcony a two-part rectangular window and next to it double doors behind a French balcony with iron balustrade. Above the windows and doors glass-in-lead fanlights and arched courses with decorated and painted voussoirs in the form of grape clusters.
The corner pilasters carry an architrave, on which the name of the house 'Het oude slot' is inscribed, and a pediment spanning the entire width of the facade. The tympanum is partly white plastered with centrally in it a large round clock. At the top of the facade a scroll-shaped decoration.
Valuation:
Eclectic villa prominently situated on the large pond, in name and decoration alluding to the former castle Honingen, of general importance due to architectural-historical, urban planning and cultural-historical value.
