Inleiding
DIJKHUISJE, landarbeiderswoning, daterend uit 18de/19de eeuw, gelegen aan de voet van de oude hoge veendijk met nog steeds overheersend agrarische functie. Wijzigingen in 1936 en 1948.
Beschrijving
Het eenlaags woonhuis met rechthoekige plattegrond heeft een stenen voor- en gepotdekseld achterhuis onder rieten zadeldak met de nok haaks op de dijk. Het woongedeelte is opgetrokken uit handvorm baksteen in kruisverband met vlechtingen. Korte staafankers in al le muren. De voorgevel heeft twee zesruitsschuifvensters met luiken, een vierruitsraampje op de vliering en de schoorsteen op de top van de gevel. De linkerzijmuur is blind. In de rechterzijmuur ligt in het woongedeelte een vijftienruitsschuifvenster met opgeklampte luiken. De ingang met opgeklampte deur en vierruitsraampje liggen in het gepotdekselde achterhuis. De achtergevel onder wolfdak heeft een vierruitsvenster en een houten aanbouw uit 1948 met veel glas onder golfplaten dak. In de linker gepotdekse lde zijmuur een schuifraampje met bovenlicht. In het rieten dak enige dakraampjes.
Inwendig is de originele staat nagenoeg bewaard. In de woonkamer ligt de stookplaats die ook als kookplaats diende. Vijf balken dragen de houten zoldering. Ten gunste van de woonruimte is in 1936 de houten bedstedenwand iets teruggelegd. Hieronder ligt een ca. 50 cm diepe onderkeldering, waarvan de toegang in het achterhuis ligt. Hierin liggen tevens de geut, de trap naar de vliering en een in hout afgeschoten slaapkamer uit 1936. Behoudens de drie zijmuren is alles aan en in het huis in hout uitgevoerd.
Op het terrein een oude kastanje en een diepe achtertuin.
Waardering
Het landarbeidershuisje heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische situatie van de arbeidersbevolking. Het is van architectuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld in de architectuurgeschiedenis van een bijzonder type woning, waarvan het exterieur en interieur gaaf bewaard zijn gebleven. De situering aan de voet van de dijk is karakteristiek voor het aanzien van de streek. Gelet op de originele staat waarin het dijkhuisje in- en uitwendig verkeert, de schaarsheid van het type woning en het representatieve karakter wat betreft ligging en ouderdom heeft het een hoge zeldzaamheidswaarde.

DIKEHOUSE, agricultural labourer's dwelling, dating from the 18th/19th century, located at the foot of the old high peat dike with still predominantly agricultural function. Alterations in 1936 and 1948.
Description
The single-storey dwelling house with rectangular floor plan has a stone front and clay-tiled rear house under thatched gabled roof with ridge perpendicular to the dike. The residential part is built of handmade brick in English bond with lattice work. Short rod anchors in all walls. The front facade has two six-pane sash windows with shutters, a four-pane window on the attic storey and the chimney on the apex of the gable. The left side wall is blank. In the right side wall in the residential part is a fifteen-pane sash window with hinged shutters. The entrance with hinged door and four-pane window are located in the clay-tiled rear house. The rear facade under half-hipped roof has a four-pane window and a timber extension from 1948 with much glazing under corrugated sheet roof. In the left clay-tiled side wall a sash window with fanlight. In the thatched roof some roof lights.
Internally the original state is virtually preserved. In the living room is the stove which also served as cooking place. Five beams support the wooden ceiling. In favour of living space, in 1936 the wooden bed alcove wall was moved back slightly. Below this is an approximately 50 cm deep partial cellar, access to which is in the rear house. In it are also the gutter, the stair to the attic storey and a wooden enclosed bedroom from 1936. Apart from the three side walls everything inside and on the house is executed in wood.

Valuation
The agricultural labourer's cottage has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of the socio-economic situation of the working population. It is of architectural-historical importance as an example in the architectural history of a particular type of dwelling, of which the exterior and interior have been well preserved. The location at the foot of the dike is characteristic of the appearance of the region. Given the original state in which the dike house is internally and externally preserved, the rarity of the building type and the representative character with regard to location and age, it has high rarity value.
