Inleiding
Rechterdeel (O.) van een in 1899-1900 tot stand gekomen vrijstaande symmetrische dubbele WOONVILLA. De opdrachtgever was J. Bakker; de aanvraag werd tegelijkertijd met die voor de Jacob Obrechtstraat 2 (vm. Paviljoenstraat) ingediend. De architect was L. Beirer. De villa is gebouwd in overgangs-architectuur met invloeden van de Art Nouveau in de detaillering en de ornamentiek en met invloeden van een meer landelijke architectuur in de kap. In 1921 is in opdracht van F. Poulie door de architect J. Vegersteen jr. een uitbouw gemaakt aan de achtergevel.
Omschrijving
Rechterdeel van dubbele woonvilla op een samengestelde plattegrond, bestaande uit vier bouwlagen: sousterrain, hoofdverdieping, verdere verdieping en kapverdieping. Het afgeplatte schilddak wordt onderbroken door de ingestoken zadeldaken van dakkapel, hoekerker en risalerend middendeel en heeft een geknikte dakvoet. Het dak wordt met rode Friese pannen gedekt. De centraal ten opzichte van het gehele bouwblok geplaatste toegangspartij bevat een natuurstenen trap, een portiek met deur met meerruits bovenlicht en naastgelegen venster met eveneens meerruits bovenlicht. Een verticale en gemetselde luifel accentueert de toegang. Verder ongevulde gotiserende rondboognissen en een opvallend zadeldak met uitkragende houten lijst. Verticale en horizontale decoratieve baksteenbanden in gele en rode steen. Natuurstenen kraagstenen bij de rondboognisen. Vensters met schuiframen met 6-, 8- en 12-ruits bovenlichten. Dakkapel met houten topvulling en lijst; metalen hijsbalk met haak. Decoratieve tegeltableaux met florale mottieven boven venster van de hoofdverdieping.
Overhoeks geplaatste erker met vensters met schuiframen met 12-ruits bovenlicht, topgevel met verdiept segmentvormig venster met houten verticale tracering.
De zijgevel toont een erker op de hoofdverdieping, muurnissen, horizontale decoratieve geelrode baksteenbanden en dakkapellen. Centraal gelegen een architectonische accentuering over alle bouwlagen met rondboogfries, smalle vensters en topgevel met wolfeind.
De achtergevel heeftsymmetrisch geplaatste vensters met schuiframen en meerruits bovenlichten, een grote serre met balcon met houten a jour borstwering, een rondboogfries met tegeldecoratie en een afgeknotte puntgevel met groot houten overstek.

Description
Right-hand part of double residential villa on a composite floor plan, consisting of four storeys: basement, ground floor, further storey and attic storey. The flattened hipped roof is interrupted by the recessed gabled roofs of the roof dormer, corner bay and projecting central section and has a bent roof edge. The roof is covered with red Frisian tiles. The entrance section, positioned centrally with respect to the entire building block, contains a natural stone staircase, a portico with door with multi-pane fanlight and adjacent window also with multi-pane fanlight. A vertical and brick louver accentuates the entrance. Further unfilled gothicising round-arch recesses and a striking gabled roof with projecting wooden moulding. Vertical and horizontal decorative brick bands in yellow and red stone. Natural stone corbels at the round-arch recesses. Windows with sash frames with 6-, 8- and 12-pane fanlights. Roof dormer with wooden top capping and moulding; metal hoist bar with hook. Decorative tile tableaux with floral motifs above the window of the ground floor.

The side facade shows a bay window on the ground floor, wall recesses, horizontal decorative yellow-red brick bands and roof dormers. Centrally located an architectural accentuation across all storeys with round-arch frieze, narrow windows and top gable with half-hipped roof end.
The rear facade has symmetrically positioned windows with sash frames and multi-pane fanlights, a large conservatory with balcony with wooden open-work balustrade, a round-arch frieze with tile decoration and a truncated pointed gable with large wooden overhang.
Valuation
Right-hand part of residential villa of general importance for its architectural-historical value. Further of importance for its ensemble value as a character-defining component of the only villa park built as such in Amsterdam.
