Inleiding
Een in het Vondelpark op een nagenoeg cirkelvormig terras gelegen THEEHUIS (genaamd 'Het Blauwe Theehuis') met bovenliggende pachterswoning, gebouwd in 1936 naar een ontwerp in Nieuwe Zakelijkheid-stijl van H.A.J. en J. Baanders in opdracht van het bestuur van de Vereeniging tot oprichting van een Rij- en Wandelpark te Amsterdam.
Omschrijving
Een op een cirkelvormige plattegrond opgetrokken betonnen theehuis op een betonnen, eveneens cirkelvormig, via twee treden toegankelijk podium bestaande uit twee verdiepingen onder een plat dak met opengewerkte uitkragende betonnen cirkelvormige luifel. Beganegrondverdieping (onderkelderd) in de vorm van een achtpuntige ster waarin de buffetruimte, de kassa en de toiletten. De toiletten zijn via de buitenkant toegankelijk. Vier ingangen, geflankeerd door dwars geplaatste windschermen (stalen vensters op hoge betonnen plint) geven toegang tot de beganegrondverdieping. Aan het eind van het terras verspringende windschermen. Blauw geverfde stalen vensters en deuren. Aan de vijverzijde stalen trap met houten treden naar terras op eerste verdieping. Bovenliggend overstekend terras met blauw geverfde stalen balustrade steunend op 12 stalen kolommen waarvan er 4 voorzien zijn van een gekoppelde kolomvormige hemelafvoer. Het water wordt verder afgevoerd middels ijzeren goten. Rond elke kolom 4 plafonnieres. De terrasvloer op de eerste verdieping verjongt zich buiten de kolommenrij. Twaalfzijdig geknikte bovenverdieping met haaks geplaatste windschermen. Ten opzichte van het op de eerste verdieping gelegen terras een terugliggende gesloten luifel met stalen rand boven de per drie gekoppelde stalen vensters. Glas-in-lood bovenlichten.
Waardering
In oorspronkelijke staat verkerend theehuis met bovenliggende pachterswoning van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de bijzondere plattegrond en vormgeving in de stijl van het Nieuwe Bouwen. Tevens van typologisch belang alsmede van belang als deel uitmakend van de bebouwing in het Vondelpark.

Description
A concrete teahouse erected on a circular ground plan on a concrete, likewise circular, platform accessible via two steps, consisting of two storeys under a flat roof with an open-work projecting concrete circular canopy. Ground floor storey (with basement) in the form of an eight-pointed star containing the buffet space, cash desk and toilets. The toilets are accessible from outside. Four entrances, flanked by transversely positioned wind screens (steel windows on high concrete plinths) give access to the ground floor storey. Staggered wind screens at the end of the terrace. Blue-painted steel windows and doors. On the pond side a steel staircase with wooden treads leading to the terrace on the first floor. Overhanging terrace above with blue-painted steel balustrade supported on 12 steel columns of which 4 are furnished with a coupled column-shaped downpipe.
