Inleiding
Dit rijk gedecoreerde WOONHUIS met artsenpraktijk uit het eerste kwart van de 20e eeuw, ontworpen in de trant van de Chalet-stijl door A. Velding, is in opdracht van Dokter Dijkhuis gebouwd. Het pand met koetshuis (thans garage) aan de achterzijde, doet thans dienst als woning. Een lage heg scheidt de voortuin, waarin een solitaire beuk staat, van de met statige herenhuizen bebouwde Voorstraat.
Omschrijving
Het woonhuis van één bouwlaag heeft een afgeknot schilddak dat doorbroken wordt door topgevels onder zadeldak en afgewolfde zadeldaken. Het dak is gedekt met bitumenstroken imitatieleien. Enkele gootlijsten zijn voorzien van gekoppelde decoratieve gootklampen. Alle topgevels hebben decoratieve windveren met gevleugeld siersnijwerk op de uiteinden; de topgevel aan voorgevel heeft een sierspantje. Het pand is opgetrokken in roodbruine bakstenen. De vensters met bovenlicht zijn rechthoekig, getoogd en rondbogig. Ze hebben een brede geprofileerde omlijsting, doorlopend tot tweederde van de ramen, en een groen geglazuurde bakstenen afzaat. Aan de noordzijde is een driezijdige erkerachtige uitbouw met balkon, waarop een houten balkonhekje met imitatiestammetjes staat. In de topgevels aan de oost- en westzijde van het pand zijn verticale vensters met spitsbogige omlijsting waarbinnen een trommelveld dat met een roosmotief is beschilderd. In de topgevels aan de voorzijde zijn rondbogige en rechthoekige melkmeisjes. Deze vorm keert terug in de omlijsting van de deur met oorspronkelijk glas-in-lood zijlichten in de enigszins terugliggende ingangspartij aan de voorzijde. De originele dubbele geverfde deur heeft een halfrond bovenlicht met glas-in-lood vaasmotieven en twee zijlichten. Boven de ingang is een kleine dakkapel met een wolfsdakje en een piron; voorts een windvaan en een versierde piron op de nokken aan de voorgevel en een piron op het wolfeind aan de westgevel. In het westelijke dakschild is een taps toelopende gemetselde schoorsteen met gele en zwarte sierbanden. Aan de oostzijde leidt een natuurstenen trapje met siersmeedijzeren leuningen naar een tweede houten deur met een getoogd bovenlicht en rondbogige zijlichten. Naast deze toegang grenst de tegen de zuidzijde gebouwde serre aan de garage.
Het vm. koetshuis heeft een zadeldak met decoratieve windveer en een sierspantje. Aan de voorzijde is een dubbele houten deur, een hooizolderluik en een roosvenster in de geveltop; in de zijgevels getoogde stalramen.
Waardering
Het woonhuis met de artsenpraktijk, rond 1907 in Buitenpost gebouwd, is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectonisch belang:
- als karakteristiek voorbeeld van de toepassing van decoratieve rustieke stijlelementen in de plattelands-architectuur,
- vanwege de uitbundige detaillering en ornamentiek,
- vanwege de hoge mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur,
- vanwege de hoge mate van gaafheid van het waardevolle interieur, met o.a. stucplafonds, een marmeren vloer, een gesneden trap en haarden, terwijl de indeling en de hal origineel zijn,

This richly decorated DWELLING HOUSE with medical practice from the first quarter of the 20th century, designed in the manner of Chalet style by A. Velding, was built on the orders of Doctor Dijkhuis. The building with coachhouse (now garage) at the rear now serves as a dwelling. A low hedge separates the front garden, in which stands a solitary beech, from the Voorstraat lined with stately townhouses.
Description
The dwelling house of one storey has a truncated hipped roof interrupted by gables under saddle roofs and half-hipped saddle roofs. The roof is covered with bitumen strips imitating slate. Some drip mouldings are provided with coupled decorative gutter clamps. All gables have decorative weathervanes with winged ornamental woodwork on the ends; the gable on the front facade has an ornamental collar-tie. The building is constructed in reddish-brown brick. The windows with fanlights are rectangular, arched and round-arched. They have a broad moulded frame, continuing to two-thirds of the panes, and a green glazed brick plinth. On the north side is a three-sided oriel-like projection with balcony, on which stands a wooden balcony railing with imitation railings. In the gables on the east and west sides of the building are vertical windows with pointed-arch framing within which a drum field decorated with a rose motif. In the gables on the front side are round-arched and rectangular milk-maid windows. This form recurs in the framing of the door with original leaded-glass side lights in the somewhat recessed entrance section on the front side. The original double painted door has a semicircular fanlight with leaded-glass vase motifs and two side lights. Above the entrance is a small roof dormer with a half-hipped roof and a finial; furthermore a weathervane and an ornamented finial on the ridges on the front gable and a finial on the half-hipped end on the west gable. In the western roof slope is a tapered mortared chimney with yellow and black ornamental bands. On the east side a natural stone step with ornamental wrought-iron railings leads to a second wooden door with an arched fanlight and round-arched side lights. Next to this access borders the conservatory built against the south side leading to the garage.
The former coachhouse has a saddle roof with decorative weathervane and an ornamental collar-tie. On the front is a double wooden door, a hayloft opening and a circular window in the gable top; in the side gables arched stable windows.
Valuation
The dwelling house with the medical practice, built around 1907 in Buitenpost, is of general cultural-historical and architectural importance:
