Inleiding
Het WOONHUIS met aangebouwd KANTOOR in eclectische bouwtrant - uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw - was oorspronkelijk het voorhuis van een boerderij. A. Velding, (Gemeente-) architect in Achtkarspelen, verbouwde het voorhuis van de vm. boerderij tot zijn woonhuis en architectenbureau met gebruikmaking van bouwmateriaal van de gesloopte schuur. Aan de oostgevel van het woonhuis ligt een bijna haaks erop geplaatst en iets teruggerooid kantoor. Voor deze aanbouw van jongere datum is ook oud materiaal van die schuur gebruikt. Het huis is op de hoek van de Voorstraat en de Schepperstraat gesitueerd. De tuin wordt van de weg gescheiden door een rondlopende beukenhaag. Achter de woning is een boomgaard op een ruim erf. Voor het huis was voorheen een sloot; van de hangbrug die naar de entree van de woning leidde zijn in de gevel naast de deur nog sporen te zien.
Aan de linkerachterzijde is een recente platte aanbouw, de bijkeuken, van bescherming uitgesloten evenals de houten garage.
Omschrijving
Het symmetrische woonhuis van één bouwlaag is op een rechthoekig grondplan gebouwd parallel aan de straat. Het wolfdak met leien in Maasdekking heeft een versierde brede gootlijst en decoratieve windveren. Het pand is opgetrokken in bruine vormbakstenen; de hoeken van de voorgevel worden benadrukt door gepleisterde tandingen. Aan weerszijden van derisalerende centrale entree zijn verticale houten vensters met bovenlicht onder strekken. De vensters zijn omlijst en hebben neggeblokken bij de wisseldorpel. De risalerende entree heeft een oorspronkelijke gebombeerde paneeldeur en een bovenlicht met gesneden guirlandes en bloemen. De gepleisterde pilasters aan weerszijden van de voordeur dragen een "Ionisch" kapiteel en architraaf. Boven de deur is een Frans balkon met gietijzeren hekwerk, voorts een kajuit met een rechthoekig omlijst venster. Het wolfdakje op de kajuit heeft een zinken bekroning in de vorm van een appel, vier bloemen en een windvaan. Aan weerszijden zijn in het dakschild twee kleine kapellen met wolfdakjes en pironnen. Aan beide hoeken van het afgewolfde dak bevinden zich twee schoorstenen met sierlijke keramische potten.
Het aangebouwde kantoor aan de oostzijde van het woonhuis is opgetrokken in bruine bakstenen onder een wolfdak met Friese zwart geglazuurde golfpannen. De verticale houten T-vensters hebben een strek en eengepleisterde sluitsteen. Voor de houten deur is een granito stoep.
Waardering
Het woonhuis uit het laatste kwart van de 19de eeuw aan de Voorstraat te Buitenpost is van cultuurhistorische en architectonische waarde:
- als karakteristiek voorbeeld van het gebruik van diverse stijlelementen in de plattelandsarchitectuur,
- wegens de eenvoudige maar verzorgde detaillering en ornamentiek,
- wegens de hoge mate van architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur,
- wegens de visuele gaafheid van de samenstellende delen, te weten de woning en een bijna haaks aangebouwd en iets teruggerooid kantoor,
- wegens de visuele gaafheid in het straatbeeld met het naastgelegen pand (Voorstraat 60).

Introduction
The DWELLING HOUSE with attached OFFICE in eclectic building style - from the last quarter of the 19th century - was originally the front house of a farmstead. A. Velding, (Municipal) architect in Achtkarspelen, converted the front house of the former farmstead into his dwelling house and architectural office using building material from the demolished barn. On the east gable of the dwelling house lies an office positioned at an almost right angle to it and slightly set back, also of more recent date. Old material from that barn was also used for this later extension. The house is situated at the corner of Voorstraat and Schepperstraat. The garden is separated from the road by a continuous beech hedge. Behind the dwelling is an orchard on a spacious plot. In front of the house there was formerly a ditch; traces of the drawbridge that led to the entrance of the dwelling can still be seen in the gable next to the door.
On the left rear side is a recent flat extension, the scullery, excluded from protection as is the wooden garage.
Description
The symmetrical dwelling house of one storey is built on a rectangular ground plan parallel to the street. The half-hipped roof with slate in Dutch bond has an ornamented broad drip moulding and decorative weathervanes. The building is constructed in brown moulded brick; the corners of the front gable are emphasised by plastered dentils. On either side of the risalit central entrance are vertical wooden windows with fanlights under string courses. The windows are framed and have header blocks at the alternating window sill. The risalit entrance has an original arched panel door and a fanlight with carved garlands and flowers. The plastered pilasters on either side of the front door bear an "Ionic" capital and architrave. Above the door is a French balcony with cast-iron railings, and furthermore a deck cabin with a rectangular framed window. The half-hipped roof on the cabin has a zinc crest in the form of an apple, four flowers and a weathervane. On either side in the roof slope are two small chapels with half-hipped roofs and finials. At both corners of the half-hipped roof are two chimneys with ornamental ceramic pots.
The attached office on the east side of the dwelling house is constructed in brown brick under a half-hipped roof with Friesian black glazed roof tiles. The vertical wooden T-windows have a string course and a plastered keystone. In front of the wooden door is a granito step.
Valuation
The dwelling house from the last quarter of the 19th century on Voorstraat in Buitenpost is of cultural-historical and architectural value:
- as a characteristic example of the use of diverse stylistic elements in rural architecture,
- because of the simple but carefully executed detailing and ornamentation,
- because of the high degree of architectural integrity of the exterior,
- because of the visual integrity of the constituent parts, namely the dwelling and an office positioned at an almost right angle and slightly set back,
